valium as a muscle relaxer

We used to give valium all the time in the ER for muscle relaxant. Most drugs

used for " muscle relaxants " are actually from other classes of drugs, they just

have an overall effect of relaxing the skeletal muscles as well. I have

included a couple of links with information regarding the use of valium for

muscle spasm from some good sites, in case anybody wants more information. I

epam (generic for Valium) is in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines

(ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peens). epam affects chemicals in the brain that may

become unbalanced and cause anxiety.

epam is used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or

muscle spasms.

epam may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this

medication guide.

[2-10 mg PO bid-qid]
