Guest guest
Lora..I too am on a reduced dose of Riba. Started out on 1000mgs and crashed within 2 weeks. Took a while to build my counts back up and then I restarted, but now I only take 600mgs. of the Riba & 3 mil of Interferon 3x week. I see by my weekly labs that I am still low on wbc, rbc, hct & hgb and each week I go lower....but it is not like it was when everything fell. you have to be very careful with Riba. When I crashed my doc pulled me and put me on Vit.C, E & Folic acid to stimulate bone marrow to make blood cells. I still take them It's 1000 of Vit. C, 600units of E and 1mg. of Folic Acid. Be careful. Do you get weekly labs? Tx can be effective with a lower dose of Riba. On the other hand, Riba can cause huge blood problems and life and death situations with hemolytic anemia...so don't push for adding more unless your counts are well in the normal range. god Bless, mzgee " We can do no great things; only small things with great Love. Her system crashed a couple of times, and transfusions were required on two occasions to bring her back up. As a matter of fact, the last two weeks she was on the combo, she was taking only one pill a day. (With all the problems she had while on the combo, all her doctors were completely blown away that she came out so well!) Even now, she is still squarely within the anemic range. On the other hand, going from a viral load of 32 mill to undetectable says something . . . We're pulling for you. Hugs,
Guest guest
mzgee, you are right, I need to remember what I am doing here. I know that it is a dangerous situation, but I just want to be doing the MOST I can for myself. thanks for putting it in perspective. I have an artificial heart valve and so have to be careful about the heart situation. I keep forgetting about that medical problem, focusing too much on the darn Hep C. I will talk to my doc about the vitamins C, E and Folic acid. How long have you been on treatment, and how are your numbers doing??? I have to go back on September 18 for my labs. First ones since on treatment. However, like I said, my hemoglobin was too low before I even took ONE reba pill... Staying positive LORA.
