Guest guest
There are more than 20 types of CMT. There are tests for just a few types. Your daughters can only inherit directly from a parent. If your husband didn't inherit he can NOT pass it on. If your husband is well coordinated and has normal feet there is an excellent chance he doesn't have CMT. If your daughters are well coordinated, have normal looking feet, and didn''t/don't toe-walk, there is an excellent chance they don't have CMT (and if their father doesn't they can't have it either). CMT Type 1-A , Type 1-B, CMTX (sex linked CMT), and HNPP can be tested for. (The test for 1-B has only been available for 3-4 years) There is also a new test for one of the mutations known in Type 2, but it is known that there are other mutations it will not detect. http://www.neuro.wustl.edu/neuromuscular/time/hmsn.html shows the currently known types. I hope this helps. :-))) Kat Seattle USA
