Guest guest
Yes, children can be treasures, I have no experience in that regard as I do not have any. My life's treasures can be defined by what else I give to the world. The reason I do not have any is because I myself was a CMT child and I know how tough life can be for the children. I have said in past posts that I spent years over this issue; my own (selfish/personal needs like my need for rest) vs. (would I have the staminia/endurance to help my CMT child with the horrors of it all, and one thousand other related things. Those of you who have Dr. Vinci's book, the issue is addressed on pg. 118 and 119/ I did go to some genetic counseling to gain greater awareness. Even tho I am so far the only one in my family with CMT, it is there NOW. Simply put, I felt I could not have children due to it might multiply the gene pool. On top of that I had a career that kept me away from home and I knew if I was going to have children, I would need to committ 100%. Then there was the financial issue of potentially raising a CMT child, ok, so I said no, I would contribute to the world in other ways and I have. Many members who are my friends have children and they do mothering in ways that truly inspire me. Children are a choice; please, let us not jump on each other. There are times this list may totally irritate you; then there are times this list may totally enlighten you. Please, share your 'experience' with an issue, if you have it. With our many new members, it is my hope you will post your introduction soon so we can get better acquainted. And to everyone with children, dogs, cats, everybody, I am truly happy for you. Most importantly, I am so happy those of you reading this message found this group. ~ Gretchen/Moderator
