Hi, I was experiencing serious torso and facial

itching after starting meds and have recently started

applying Bag Balm to entire face, torso, arms and

shins immediately after showering, and am getting 90%

relief from itching.

Hi Lonnie,

That is great, what is Bag Balm? There are lots of

people who would like to know besides me. I am glad

you found something that helps with the itching. It

can drive you crazy. I have not had that problem for

quite a while. I found Milk of Magnesia helps with

it. I use to know a Lonnie on in FL.

Take Care, Connie

I've heard that Bag Balm is very good...I used Aveeno bath and shower

oil after my showers and had a lot of success with that....you rub it

on, rinse it off and no oily or greasy after effect.

I use Bag Balm around my eyes in the cold winter weather we usually have

in the Midwest...everything else is covered but it's hard to cover your

eyes and walk. <g>

Alot of folks find that Benydry relieves a lot of the itching from meds

also...and many doctors recommend it (so does Schering's Commitment to

Care program if I'm remembering right).

He he...

Bag Balm (as many other shampoos, creams, etc in use today) was

originally created for cow's udders which get very irritated, dry and

sore from milking. Because of the high lanolin centent, we would use it

on the corona of horse hooves (similar to the cuticle area on nails) to

help improve hoof quality and health. Nowadays you can get it in any

drugstore.

HI.Some time ago I send a e-mail reg. bag.balm.I used the dutch word for it but

explained it was an old folkmecicine use to treat udders for cows. But nobody

seems to take any notice. Is this group for Budies only.?I.am a survivor with a

lot of treatment behind me and before me.Now on Peg.My Doc is excellent and

does.nt prescribe anything for fatigue and depression. He says:If yre tired go to

bed,if you can.t sleep, you will sleep the nxt. day.If yre depressed go to the

sauna of do something nice, hobby etc.If yhe itching take bag balm.Etc.All those

medicine to treat side effects are not good for yr liver especially when on

treatment, and NEVER take Ritalin. When on treatment you simple have to accept the

side-effects,which are different for everyone. You can.t always get what you

want!Today I helped a young guy in a motorid wheelchair,he was completely

paralised.Used a joystick in his mouth to move about. When he was across the

street he smiled at me and when I walked away I had tears in my eyes and thought

" what the hell are you complaining about " ..

This group is for anyone. I've seen Bag Balm, but only in independent

drugstores that stock neat old remedies, chemicals, etc. It does take

something like that fellow in the wheelchair to make your troubles seem less

hard to bear. If I remember biology right-everything we put in our mouths

has to be processed either by the liver or our kidneys-they are meant to

work. So sometimes I have to wonder a bit about the saying that such & such

Rx is hard on the liver. Perhaps Doc could clear this up for me.

I guess if someone did not notice or discuss bag balm must be because not many

may have used it. If it gives you relief , use it, is it to be applied on skin

or consumed orally? I really dont know much about it.

I believe in usage of scientific meds for we know how they work and what their

sides are and I am wary of suggesting usage of indiginous or natural chemcals.

Be your own judge, if it helps go ahead and use it.

I also agree that no drug is really hard on the liver or kidney if used

appropriately and if there is a side effect you will not know it till you use

the drug. Some drugs are toxic to the liver and kidney and so they arent used

anymore, if such drugs are used then they are prescribed for serious diseases

where there is no option available and the sides are carefully watched for.

The effect of treatment and the disease itself can be devastating and one must

use medication if required to take care of them or it will make you

dysfunctional..what is the use of such treatment if it makes you worse. Remember

treatment is for YOU not for your liver exclusively. Antidepressent medication

is one of the most frequently co-prescribed med in chronic Hep C or B and safe

drugs are available for that.

Further, a known devil is better than an unknown one, so I advocate use of meds

which we know can be safely used and if they give you relief why not use it.

If you have fever and bodyaches you cant sleep on it or wish it away!

I hope this helps.
