Guest guest
Hello Lee, My mother is a colon cancer survivor who had a colostomy. She did extremely well with it, and no, you couldn't tell a thing. It restored her normal life (she did not have CMT). The one thing about them that I would be concerned about, having weak hands and all, would I be able to do the maintenance of the appliance? A bag gets snapped on and off, it has to be cleaned, the stoma (opening) needs to be lotioned. My mom had her surgery 20 years ago, so maybe the appliances are different now. But I fear my weak CMT fingers wouldn't do a good job. I might have to have help with it, although I believe it's a once a day task - something to ask your doctor. Gassy foods sometimes need to be avoided, but that's do- able. Melody
