Guest guest
Some doctors recommend an additional DMARD along with a biologic to give a better chance that the body will not reject the biologic with prolonged use. We are all different so what is good for one might not work for the other. Also with Methotrexate some people have fewer side effects if they take Folic Acid along with it or if they use injections instead of pills. We have to find a doctor we trust and work with the doctor to find out what works for us. God bless. Hi, I've been a member of this group forever and never take time to post. Anyway, I'm on Enbrel and Methotrexate and considering going off the Mtx. It gives me terrible headaches and nausea. Has anyone done this? I'm 30 and have been on it for 16 years, and on the Enbrel since 2000. Thanks! Jill
Guest guest
That's really interesting! I always wondered why I stayed on the Methotrexate even after my rheumatologist started me on Enbrel. I didn't understand how they went together. Thanks guys for the advice and responses. I'm uncertain so I think I'll wait until my doctor appointment in April to ask my rhuemy about it. Guest guest
I've been on the embrel since 2001. I was overdosed with methotrexate before that, so switched to another rheumatologist, who doesn't personally NEED me to take anything but what I'm comfortable with. The overdose was injectible type. The dose I was on was working, but she said I needed increase and it nearly killed me. I do well on enbrel, celebrex, pain meds at night. It's the change in season that's griping my sytems now. Happens every season change, until I get used to it. I have to wear mental blinders each day, just to believe my life will have a clear space open for a while, where I can do something I enjoy an ignore the pain. > > I was on methotrexate for 4 yrs, but decided the side effects out wayed the > benefits. so took myself off it. but i suppose it's if ya can live without > it. > > > >From: " Harold Van Tuyl " <hvantuyl@...> > >Reply-Rheumatoid Arthritis > ><Rheumatoid Arthritis > > >Subject: RE: [sPAM] anyone on Enbrel went off Mtx? > >Date: Sat, 10 Feb 2007 10:33:33 -0800 > > > >Some doctors recommend an additional DMARD along with a biologic to give a > >better chance that the body will not reject the biologic with prolonged > >use. > >We are all different so what is good for one might not work for the other. > >Also with Methotrexate some people have fewer side effects if they take > >Folic Acid along with it or if they use injections instead of pills.
