Guest guest
Sherm, After thinking about it more clearly this morning, the last Rheumatologist I saw did the exact same thing. She did not talk to me after the exam, gave me no clue as to what she thought (except for disagreeing with me on several topics, including her superiority to all other rheumatologists I had ever seen in my life...one of the reasons I never went back), and over eight weeks later sent a letter to my Internist (only after I called to ask what was taking so long, to which the secretary said something about waiting for lab tests, yeah, right, what lab test takes eight weeks?). My experience with this lady was the most negative experience in my life! This was one of those days when I had driven six hours to get to the clinic. I was stiff and in massive pain. I was not being given adequate pain relief medications at the time as this was prior to my going to the pain clinic and was part of the pain clinic's requirements. I had a lot of hope that this lady (I prefer not referring to her as a doctor) would help me get my life back together after becoming pretty much a bed-ridden invalid. Therefore I was very emotional that day. When she did write the report to my doctor she said that I was " inappropriately emotional " . I may have cried for about a total of one and a half minutes. The rest of the time I was pleasant and appropriate. I think she was " getting back " at me because I had the audacity to disagree with one of her statements about spondyloarthropathies with information I had read that was published by the Cleveland Clinic, one of the leading arthritic centers in the USA. Nor did she like the fact that RISG.ORG existed and said something petty about " online hypochondriacs. " I sent her a letter asking for an apology for her behavior. She never responded. I didn't expect her to do so. In any event, it seems that the routine now is to not state any findings at the time of the exam by a specialist, but to send the referring doctor a summation of the findings and opinions. Ask you r doctor for a copy of the letter when it is sent. Good luck. Ray
Guest guest
The weird thing is the Dr never ordered any tests. I had mentioned a previous Dx of CFS. I wonder if this caused the problem. I have been mistreated on a number of occasions when my Dx was CFS. It's like they classify you as a nut case. How can he diagnose anything w/o tests? Also, I asked about how the joints look in Reiter's. Can they look normal? Thanks, Sherm

Guest guest
Congrats on the diagnosis Carol, we just got my son's in February, at age 11. It was a big releaf to have confirmation and it has started the ball rolling to him getting the help he needs! -Charlotte dx We finally have a dx. I went to the nuerologist this morning with all the questionaires she had sent home with me last time. They were filled out by all the school people who have contact with . The school psych and the classroom teacher agreed with me about the aspergers and now so does the dr. She is going to send me a written report. I hope I get it before her annual review. Now, maybe, I can get a one to one aide instead of a shadow. Also, I just got "Evidence of Harm" and am going to start reading it as soon as I go offline. I am still very much on the fence about the thermerisol (sp?) thing. I am very interested to read what he has to say. Guest guest
I just received my book about 10 days ago...due to insufficient reading time (big surprise with a full-time job, a husband, and four-kids, one with autism lol) I haven't read much but so far, it's a good read! I'm glad you got the dx, Carol! It makes getting the necessary help that much easier. Donna dx We finally have a dx.
