Question.....

The standard is just to remove the old implant and pop in a new one . . . Scar tissue isn't considered to be a problem. . . The would have women think that it's absorbed by the body. WRONG!

Look at it this way . . . .once a woman is implanted, it's guaranteed income (to the surgeon) for life!

You won't find many doctors telling women how much it's going to cost them over a lifetime - assuming the stay well. If they get sick, the sky is the limit!

Question.....

There's a question that's really been nagging at the back of my mind that I've been worried about asking. I decided to be brave and ask it.

If the PS docs all said that the implants were only good to stay in 10 - 20 years - what brillant answer would they for us to deal with it once the time was up? Has anyone ever come across this question before? I'm still planning on explanting, I'm just asking stuff as I think of it.

Thank you all again for your love and support.

Traci, I am a perfect example of what some doctors get away with. My first silicone breast implants were implanted in 1974. Later, in 1976, I went to my plastic surgeon again because I was having a lot of pain. He took out the ruptured implants, but left the Dacron patches and the old capsules in me. In 1992, the ruptured second set were removed, but again the plastic surgeon did not remove the capsules or any of the garbage that was left in me in 1976. In 1993, they tried to clean me out, and this is when I lost my left breast because of a large seroma. My right breast was not cleaned out. We now know that is why I am not getting better.

When you have your implants removed, it must be done correctly, or you will have to have another surgery to remove the capsules. The women in this group know what they are talking about, and I wish that they had been there for me back when my implants were removed. Unfortunately, there were no support groups like this one around at that time that I knew about.

We all want the very best for you...sending love always......Lea

Lea, thanks for your response. You've been through so

much (as have all the ladies) and you still have a

huge heart. Your words are very comforting and I

thank you for that.

I've got a doctor's appointment with my regular doctor

next week, an appointment with my ps and week after

that, a physical with my regular doctor again.

I'm just making sure the ps who does end up doing the

surgery does the job right the first time.

Hi Nan,

I'm so happy to hear that your surgery went well and

that you are well on your way to recovery.

I love how you are just loving your new size. It's

very inspirational.

My implants have been in since 1988 - 19 years -

yikes! I don't have a date for explant yet. I'm

still interviewing doctors.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Hi Rogene,

I appreciate your answer. This is all really

important to me as I journey towards explantation.
