Guest guest
you are extremely fortunate to have such a good doctor. I could write a book on how many " bad " doctors I have been to. I get tired of hearing how bad attorneys are....they at least don't make you wait FOREVER to see them. Karon
Guest guest
Tommy, I'm new at this CMT and really couldn't tell you if CMT causes pain. I've been told it doesn't and I should look elsewhere to see why I have so much pain. I 've had lower back pain since '99 After complaining about it enough, I was sent to have an MRI and they found degenerative arthritis. I also have a bulging disc in my neck into my spinal cord, which I've been told will put the lower back out of whack and in pain.I also have neuropathy in my legs. I was diagnosed with Diabetes in '92 and doctors say it has caused a lot of my pain. You may want to check into having an MRI done for a bulging disc that may be getting into the nerves. The chiropractor is the only one that can help my pain. Good Luck. Debbie
Guest guest
I had an MRI done when I first hurt my back and it was fine for someone my age. I don't have any bulging disc's or arthritis I also went to a spinal surgeon and he said I don't need surgery every thing is muscular I get spasms and they cause me to not be able to walk or stand strait. I use ice and that helps a little and the chiropractor keeps my spine straight. Tommy
Guest guest
I had all the x-rays MRI's and my discs are fine my orthopedic even sent me to a spinal surgeon and he said I don't need surgery. My ortho thinks my back pain is from the CMT I've tried every thing from epidural, pain management and even acupuncture and nothing worked the only thing that helps is my chiropractor I get a lot of spasm's and sometimes I can't walk or stand up strait so he helps keep my spine in-line. Guest guest
Tommy, As I re-read your posts, a couple of things came to mind. You said " CMT is in the same category as MD " . Well, no. CMT is about atropy, MD is about Dystrophy - see our FILES for the difference. But, CMT and MD are both types of neuromuscular disorders - I think there are 43 or 44 of them now. As for back pain, since you are convinced it is a muscle spasm, ask your doctor about Robaxin. It is a skeletal muscle relaxant and was very effective on my back pain before surgery. Since surgery, I have learned there is an " art " to caring for one's back. Two of the greatest helps for me have been aquatic exercise and pilates. Aquatics has really helped strengthen my back muscles and also abdominals (many types of exercises included) Pilates taught me about neutral spine position and how to achieve that for better posture control and to continue with the rest of the moves. Also watching one's weight is very important in relation to back pain since extra weight puts more stress on the back. Before and after my back surgery, I also had my orthotics adjusted. To clarify, these are NOT AFOs, but custom made inserts for my shoes that make a world of good difference. Gretchen
Guest guest
Gretchen, I've tried Robaxin, since 96 I've tried over 30 different types of muscle relaxers and pain meds the Valium and Tylenol with codeine I'm taking now help a little. My ortho is waiting to see if my insurance company will pay for Botox injections to see if that will help but I'm still waiting for approval so I just keep waiting. I used to exercise 4X a week but when my father died in 2003 I just couldn't get back into it and every time I tried I would get a cold then my back started to get worse now I'm trying to get back into it little by little. Guest guest
I have had X-Rays done on Wednesday April 20 and have been waiting on the test. I finally got the results yesterday. But only the RN told me what she saw. The Neurologist will in today (May 3) to read the resutls and tell me more. Well the test says I have Arthritis on a disk in my lower back. Does anyone have the same problems and does anyone know if it has to do with CMT? Sue
Guest guest
Hi Sue: I recently had an X-Ray of my spine as well. It showed that I had arthritis on 2 facet joints in my lower back. More on the left side. Lower back pain is commonly caused by Facet Joint Syndrome. My doctor told me it is not caused by CMT. It is arthritis. You may find out more information at www.spineuniverse.com. Regards,

I had those shots Monday in my back but it is to early to tell if they are going to work. Let me know what the doctor says. Sue

Guest guest
Oh yeah. I had it REALLY bad with the implants,I was often in total agony. I used to go to a massage therapist who was amazed at how tight my muscles were. I still have it now but it is not as severe. I never had any pain of any kind before implants. I'm certain it was related. Bindi Lower back pain If I've asked this before please forgive me....but my mind isn't was it use to be LOL does anyone have lower back pain ? Guest guest
Expanted 10 months ago with Ed Melmed in Dallas. Back pain is better though not gone, seems now be part of a larger complex of fibro symptoms. But definitely MUCH better. Guest guest
, I had silicone for one year. I started having symptoms about one month after implantation-- the first was vertigo, which got progressively worse. Then came the downhill slide. . .I definitely got them out because of illness, but it took me a while to figure out it was the implants, though you'd think it would have been a no-brainer. Get implants, get sick almost immediately--DUH. But I guess I was as deluded as many of us, believing what everyone told us-- that it couldn't be the implants, they're safe, etc. I did have a lift, and I am happy with my outcome. I needed a lift before implants anyway, so I definitely look better. I am DONE with implants. Good for you for making the decision to get yours out. You will be SO relieved to have them out. You will have a life again. Even with my latest setback(vertigo, which I've had for five days), I still am much better than I was. I couldn't do anything before. I most likely have fibro now, which some women get from having implants, but what I've noticed is that most women improve steadily, if sometimes slowly, over time. The first thing to go for me was the terrible back pain. I still have all-over pain (fibro) but it isn't like it was with the implants. Guest guest
, yes, I had a lift with the explant. I definitely needed one- I had crazy big implants--500cc! I still have them (In a plastic box) and they are as heavy as two bowling balls. I don't know what I was thinking. I am 43. I sometimes feel like I'm 83, but w/implants I felt 1,000 years old. Yes, neck and back pain will definitely get better after those suckers are out. At least mine did. Your eye problems will improve too. With implants it got so bad I thought I was going to have to get glasses. I couldn't read any small type at all, and my vision was always blurry. Now I'm back to normal. Another improvement for you to look forward to! Guest guest
, my lower back hurts off & on...when I go to physio regularly it feels better. I lay on the floor and pull my knees up with my hands (as close to the chin as possible) alternating legs. Gives relief. Also, an emotional reason for lower back pain can be worrying about finances. That one definitely fits for me. Love, Sunny > > If I've asked this before please forgive me....but my mind isn't was it use > to be LOL does anyone have lower back pain ? Guest guest
, Yes I do. Like it is in a locked position or I have been hit with a baseball bat in the lower back and hips. I had spinal injections and coccix epederal. They told me from my MRI at the time of my first injections into the hip joints that it was scar tissue, I said how can that be I haven't had any trauma to that area, They said it was from childbirth, hello I had a c-section!!! That was before I knew about impant illness, Terri P > > If I've asked this before please forgive me....but my mind isn't was it use > to be LOL does anyone have lower back pain ? Guest guest
, I'm so happy that finances are not an issue for you. Especially with all the health challenges, it sure doesn't help to have that extra burden. I was used to being an at home Mom most of my life and it's been difficult for me in the past few years being on my own. Thank God I can do respite care for Emma, otherwise it would have been temporary disability, which is a whopping $635.00 a month. Try to live on that. Atleast in Canada my surgery was covered. I have to be grateful for that in a big way! I was sure they were going to say it is elected surgery and I would have to pay. I think they realize that if they don't respond to our needs, we will blow the whistle even louder. They KNOW implants are a health hazard. Keep faithful & vigilant, Love & Healing to You, Sunny -- In , GMCLADY98@... wrote: > > Finances are not a worry thank God for me....but eevrything else is...ha ha >
