Guest guest
Holly, don't worry about the exam. It's a standard practice to have you checked for the problems you're complaining about. My wife and I went to her exam and it took only about 5 minutes for him to look at her joints and general body problems, and at the same time he was talking and asking general questions. You'll do fine, I'm sure. When I went for my " exam " , it was with a Psychiatrist! Guest guest
Hi Holly, I had to go back after 3 years, and it went totally different than the first time. There is a LOT of paperwork to fill out, but I'm sure you know that already!! I just had some guy ask me questions about my disability and he stated a few times that this was a normal procedure and not brought on by other means. Try to relax and good luck! Guest guest
Holly, Don't worry about it. I 've had to do a few of these over the years. I call them the " are you breathing? " physicals. i.e. it is quick an cursory. The LAST time I had to go to one, the office was on the 3rd floor of a building with a broken elevator. There I stood with my walker and called upstairs and told them if the dr. expected to see me, he'd have to come down to the lobby. They wanted me to reschedule, and I said no, it took long enough to get the appt. He ended up coming down to see me, and it took about 4 min. Guest guest
I'm sure you will do fine. I just wanted to say that to prepare yourself for an initial denial, that is usually the case. Don't worry though I'm sure have enough documentation to show to win your case if your don't get it the first time. marie On 1/28/07, Holly <hollybgroovin2003@...> wrote: I am having an appointment with a doctor scheduled by SSD tomorrowbecause I haven't had my diagnosis for at least 2 years. Guest guest
Dear Holly- You should have copies of your medical tests to prove you have RA. My appt with a disability doctor did not get me approved. Only bringing my medical records from my Rheumatologist along with test results and a description of how limited my mobility brought by a lawyer got me approved. Its all a process. Dont be discouraged. Just answer his questions. Look like you feel. Be clean but no make up and clean but not fancy clothes, loose fitting and comfortable to get on and off for exam if needed. Wear slip on shoes if possible. Good luck, Deborah On 1/28/07, Holly <hollybgroovin2003@...> wrote: I am having an appointment with a doctor scheduled by SSD tomorrowbecause I haven't had my diagnosis for at least 2 years. Guest guest
I'm not very good at giving out advise but, when you see the doctor by SSD, if I recall right, it really wasn't so bad. You just have to do your best and you should be ok. Good luck. Guest guest
Deborah, I wish I'd have thought of that. My appointment with my SSD doctor did not get me approved for SSD. Some of the things I had to do struck me as being odd, but yes it does take a lot of documentation. I was denied at least once before being approved. On a more personal note, I always enjoy reading your advice to anyone seeking advice in this group. You always sound like a warm, caring person and you have a good heart. I'm always glad I signed up with this group, even if I don't contribute very often. Guest guest
Holly, If you are denied, Appeal the decision!!!!! Most times people are denied at first. It is really worth appealing the decision. Good luck. Ina
