Guest guest
My name is Marie and I am coming out of lurkerville. I live in I live i, , , have one son who just turned 9 and have been married for 14 years to my high school sweetheart (dated a long time). We have 4 small dogs, all less than 20 lbs each (Shih Tzu, Lhapsa Apso, ish Terrier and a mixed breed terrier). I start on the Enbrel injections today. I also take methotrexate, mobic , Flexeril, Ultram, Cymbalta, predinsone, Welbutrin and Darvacet. I wish my co-pays were cheaper and I didn't have this life long illness. I have had RA for at least 27 years (diagnosed at 15). I also have Fibromyalgia, Trochanteric bursitis, Bursitis in my shoulders, Plantar fasciitis in both heals, Degenerative disk disease in my lower back, Osteoarthritis, Gout during the summer time, Reynard’s phenomenon, Sjogren’s syndrome, mild depression, Pre- diabetes and Hypertension. I was on Remicade for the past year with no success other than itching and bruises. I am hoping that the Enbrel works soon because I HATE THIS ILLNESS. Guest guest
Welcome to the board. I’m 79 years old and only had RA for about 5 years. I’m doing pretty well on Methotrexate and Remicade. You have a lot more diagnoses than I do and you’ve had them a lot longer. I hope that the new medication does wonders for you. God bless. Guest guest
Welcome Marie..I'd have to agree that RA for me is painful and challenges every aspect of my life however I've tried to change my perspective on how I look at so I keep myself motivated. I do a lot better mentally and physically when I just try my best do to the things I need to and listen to my body to know when it's time to stop. Blessings to you and your wonderful family! Glad you are part of our group! Marie On 2/3/07, Harold Van Tuyl <hvantuyl@...> wrote: Welcome to the board. I'm 79 years old and only had RA for about 5 years. Guest guest
Dear Marie- You might try abatacept which is a bcell blocker which helps for people who are resistant to remicade. You might also try cyclosporine if you doctor thinks its okay. Guest guest
Hello Marie! Welcome to the group. I am Steph & I live in Charlottesville, VA so we are neighbors!!! I am 29 and was dx'd with RA in 1999 when I was 22. I have a lab mix named Oreo (since you mentioned dogs). I take Methotrexate, Prednisone, Flexerill, Ibuprofen, Folic Acid & Remicade. I took Enbrel for awhile but it didn't work for me. I've been on Remicade for 7 years. As an aside, my hubby & I will be in Manassas on February 19. I have a doctor's appt (of course). We are going to have lunch at my fave pizza place, Tony's Pizza in Bull Run Plaza (I'm a NYC native and am very picky about pizza --just ask my hubby!). Since we'll be in your neighborhood, would you like to meet for lunch? Let me know. You can email me privately. Take care, Steph in VA mariemalone@... wrote: My name is Marie and II live in Manassas, VA, I have had RA for at least 27 years (diagnosed at 15). Guest guest
Welcome, Marie! I hope Enbrel works very well for you. Can you tell me more about why your physician believes you have gout and what the connection is to summer? There is no need to answer if you don't want to, of course.
