,

Loads of prayers for you and this week especially. Don't forget to

breathe! And then come home and pop a Stooges tape in the VCR- some good

laughs will be a big help this week.

That's great Shaye- there are probably a lot of us who read daily, but have

little extra time to post. But we are here!

I saw these great cabinets for crafts today-check this out!!

http://www.collectors-cabinets.com/catalogs/store.asp?pid=39208 & catid=23283

Maybe some of you have seen them. Wow, what a great way to organize and end

clutter. Maybe someday....... (when I'm rich LOL!)

nne-can't wait to hear your news!!!

Rainy and gloomy here today-hope everyone can find something nice to do. Am

I the only one craving " comfort food? " Maybe I am storing it up to

hibernate....hmmmmmm....

Good luck to everyone with their shows. I have another Sat, then 2 in Nov

and one in Dec. My business has branched into a new direction, and I'm now also

selling jewelry that I make. (along with the soap-strange combo, huh?) We'll

see how it goes.....Since I have done stained glass in the past, (and already

have all the tools and lots of glass!) I'm now making fused glass pendants.

I'm also making lampwork beads and fine silver jewelry, and gemstone and

sterling pieces. So many interests, so little time.......

:-)

You have your doctor order them and they are processed by Metametrix, a lab.

We had Charlie's blood done last year but could not afford to do the urine

also. Medicare would not pay for the tests.

MJH,

Both my neuro and ped ordered metatolic tests but they all came back normal.

Are there other types of tests that we need to have done? Our tests have to be

done by our local lab which is Labcorp or the insurance won't pay for it. They

have some kind of an agreement with them.

, I just want you to know that I am soooooo happy for you. That is

awesome!!!! Your emails have really been so inspiring for me. I just find you

to be such an amazing person and my hat goes off to you. What level of hearing

loss did you have in your implanted ear? I wish the absolute best of the CI

world for everyone, but especially for you and others like you having to

face the world of being both deaf and blind. I cannot even begin to imagine

what you have been throughl I hope your days will continue to get better and

better. I am sure they will because you have such a wonderful attitude.

I am heading into my second insurance appeal now and have cancelled out my Feb.

15th implant date which was very disappointing. However, I know I just have to

keep on fighting to get there and I will.

Subject: More Improvement!!

Tonight while listening to a talk radio program I discovered that I could

understand more words! I had some difficulty understanding the talk show

host, but as I listened more closely, I could pick out a few words here and

there. Better yet, I could understand 40%-50% of what one caller said! I

couldn't understand everything during the program, but I could understand

enough to realize that they were discussing the Iraqi election!!

Today I also noticed that voices are starting to develop more of a natural

sounding quality to them. This is an exciting discovery for me because as of

10 days ago, everything I heard sounded metallic and high pitched.

I'm so excited!!! Every day just keeps getting better and better!!! :)

Deborah,

I'm really sorry to hear that you had to cancel your surgery date. Hang in

there! I know it's easier said than done, but I *know* your patience is

going to pay off! I waited 5 months to complete my CI evaluation (because of

various appointment delays and cancellations). Once it was completed, I had

to wait 8 weeks for insurance approval. Once that came and I was given a

surgery date, my insurance company sent me a letter saying that my coverage

would expire the following month when I was scheduled to have surgery. As it

turned out, there was a clerical mistake in the paperwork. (Wow. What a

surprise given that my records are transferred from one caseworker to

another *every* month. No wonder they don't know what's going on.)

Everything worked out in the end, but believe me...there were plenty of

times I felt like giving up. The people on this list helped renew my inner

strength and it was because of them that I was able to continue moving

forward. At long last, I won the battle. I had my surgery and as the saying

goes, the rest is history. Good things come to those who wait, so please

hang in there! (((((((Hugs))))))

Before my CI surgery my implanted ear had hearing that fluctuated between

severe-profound to profound. It was discovered that the fluctuating hearing

was caused by allergies and blocked Eustachian tubes. I was put on allergy

medication (Zyrtec) for a month to stabilize my hearing. My audi and surgeon

compared my audiograms before and after my taking Zyrtec. Without the

medication, my hearing loss was profound in both ears. With medication, it

" improved " to severe to profound starting at 90 dB at 250, dropping to 110

at 500 and 750 Hz, 120 at 1000 Hz -- and no measurable hearing (aided or

unaided) above 1500 Hz. In addition, I haven't had any speech understanding

in my left ear for the past 10 years, so that makes me even more excited

about the progress I've made so far.

Hang in there, Deborah! It won't be long before you're telling us about your

insurance approval and surgery date!

((((((Hugs))))))

Hi Happy,

Yes I received your earlier response. I think I sent the message before

your response. Just let me know if you have an e-mail address to send it to

(that will let you open up and print the attachments and the letter with the

links. Or you might be able to ask them if you can open up your own mail at

their house. I often open up my e-mail on other computers when I am

traveling.

Just let me know when you would like me to send the e-mail packet again.

My name is Gloria, and I also got a negative back on

the ra factor. I

had alot of the same symptoms as you, and my sed rate

was 4 times what

it should be, and swollen joints everywhere. My rheumy

wrote in her

Gloria: there are other types of Arthritis that are

very siimilar to RA. Psoriatic Arthritis is VERY VERY

similar - but it has a negative blood test and may

include Psorisis skin problems. The treatements are

the same, tho....

Sounds like your immune system is very haywire.. Mine

started going haywire ten years ago when I became

insulin dependent diabetic. It is formally termed

" type 1 1/2 diabetes " - brought on by a mis-firing

immune system....

I second the notion - get a referal to a

rheumetologist! A diagnosis is the first step to

treatment that may help!!

In the meantime - take it easy on yourself....
