Cher,

I don't know about all these numbers, but I do know that some doctors check

viral load at week 12, and other doctors (like mine) wait to check your

viral load at week 24.

I think it is an expensive test and it depends on your insurance and what

they would pay. I had to wait until week 24, and yes, it IS a real

nail-biting situation.

Hi Cher,

I don't know why your doctor is so concerned about your WBC. It

is well within ranges to be expected while on interferon. I don't

think you've even reached the point where a dose reduction is

advised, although the 1.7 is close. What is your neutrophil count?

While the old Intron-A dose modification chart shows WBC and

neutrophils, the Peg-Intron only uses neutrophils as a guide to when

a dose reduction is suggested. It is recommended to reduce the dose

if neutrophils go to <0.75 x 109 /L and to discontinue if they drop

to <0.5 x 109 /L. (The recommendation on WBC for Intron-A is to

reduce the dose if they drop to <1.5 x 109 /L and discontinue if they

drop to <1.0 x 109 /L. That's discontinue if they have dropped after

a dose reduction. That should always be tried first.) As for viral

load testing, some doctors do it at 12 weeks, and I think that is a

better way to do it, but most do it at 24 weeks, and I think that is

considered standard practice. I guess just hang in there and hope

your doctor doesn't freak out too much. I think you are doing great!

Hi Cher

I don't know anything about lab results or blood counts. But I think

even with the reduction in dosage....you being a genotype 2, and by the

results of your ALT, I think you are doing good and will be a

responder. So, try not to stress too much, you'll make it through

okay. Good luck.

The effects of urinating a great deal does not wear off, that's how the drug works. It is a diuretic.Have you thought about taking it in the mornings? On Tue, Mar 11, 2008 at 11:25 AM, <jenniferwilliams88@...> wrote:

Hey , :o)

I take HCTZ also and no, the effects don't wear off per se. At least

not in a way like your body gets used to it and it doesn't really

work any more. I find that for me, it works really really good for

the first 4-5 hours or so, then the effects taper off. I don't

remember ever reading with mine to not take it in the evening but it

didn't take too many time before I quit that! I was up and running

all night! :-O I take it in the mornings now. ;o)

The only thing I do do by way of playing with dosages is if I'm going

to be traveling, I may skip a dose, especially if traveling by car.

Last time I went with my Dad to Minnesota---about a 12 hour road trip

for us---we were stopping every hour on the hour so I could potty.

Even quick potty breaks really slow you down when there's bunches of

them. ;o)

All that aside tho', I do like it for high blood pressure. I think

it works better for me than some of the other meds I've taken.

in AR (who will see you on the 19th! :o))

Yepper, I'll be at the Comfort Inn also. :o) I get in late Friday

but will stay over Saturday night also since I can only get a morning

flight back home. One of these trips, I'd like to be able to

schedule enough time for some play also. There are just too many

I'd kinda like to do Sea World at some point. Mom and I have talked

about her going with me for a fill some time, maybe during the summer

and I've asked her about various things. She has a hard time walking

distances tho'. Since the Comfort Inn is on the edge of Old Town and

I think a sight-seeing trolley stop is ajacent to the hotel, that'll

probably be the first pick. Besides, my little old grey-haired mama

has a hard time understanding entrance prices of nearly $60 for Sea

World. ;o) I've sent for vacation information for San Diego but

haven't gotten anything yet.
