Guest guest
I've been participating in a University study on Rituxan for a year now. The study is worldwide, with 5 participating in my area, on the effects of Rituxan on those with mild to moderate RA who have NEVER taken a biologic. It is done through two infusions, one week apart. My first treatment, a year ago, appeared to be placebo, (I was still in pain, with no improvement after, while the second treatment, in December, (we were told by the program that it was the drug), was very effective, though we weren't told the dosage. I've experienced no side effects. For the first time in three years I have been relatively pain free, with little or no swelling and tenderness. My energy level is generally where it was before RA slammed me. I will be re-treated at the end of this month (with the drug). Throughout I have also been on 20 mg per week of MTX orally. I opted to take 1600 mg per day, split dose, of Ibuprofen instead of Celebrex, with occasional Tylenol if needed. These and folic acid are the only RA meds I'm on. As long as the treatment is effective for me, I will be in the study for at least four more years. So far, so good!! Probably told you more than you wanted to know. Are you using or considering Rituxan?
