Guest guest
Thanks for your input there. I might have to go the ablation route myself. I have huge growths on my thyroid and they will keep growing unless I kill it with radiation. I remember the rapid heartbeat and insomnia. I am so not looking forward to that at all. Still the alternative is worse. Hugs, Deborah On Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 1:26 PM, Rue <maryrue@...> wrote: Yes I have. They diagnosed my thyroid as Graves disease. It was hyperthyroid. I was having symptoms like yours with a rapid heart rate, being very tired all the time, hair loss, and the worse part was the muscles kept getting weaker and weaker and made it hard to even walk, They put me on thyroid meds to bring the level down to normal and also on a drug to slow down the fast heart rate. After I was back to normal after 2 years they said sometimes they can take you off the med and it will stay down . We gave that a try but it went back up. We tried the meds again but this time they made me break out in hives. So it was either surgery or Radioactive Iodine Treatment We did the radioactive and it pretty much destroyed. For two years the levels were maintained normal with the little bit of thyroid left. Now I am on Synthroid to keep the level normal. I had the RA long before the Thyroid came along and are also a diabetic.
