Guest guest
Welcome to the board and I’m sorry about your illness and also the multiple illnesses within your family. Methotrexate is available both as pills and as injections. Usually 1,000 mcg of Folic Acid daily is prescribed along with weekly Methotrexate. For many people the nausea decreases with time, and also many find that injections bypass the stomach and almost eliminate the nausea. I am fortunate enough to get by well with oral Methotrexate but I also need Humira every 8 weeks to control my RA. God bless. My husband is permanently disabled with RSD and Neuropathy. I was diagnosed with RA about 7 weeks ago. I started with pain in my right knee in November and since then the pain has moved to all my joints. I started taking Methotrexate and prednizone along with the Voltaren I started in November. I have slowed down a little, but I still ride my bike when my knees are not screaming at me. I attend college as a Math major with an Education minor (to teach H.S. math). My biggest question is: Will the neusea and the fatigue from the Methotrexate ever go away? Kresal Evergreen Park, IL
Guest guest
Katy are you still here and did any one answer you? I am sure Steph must have. Cortef actually treats depression etc so I suspect you were not on the right doses (docs don't know much about it.) were you taking 5mg 4X a day? you will have to be on the right dose of Iodoral for it to work as well. I became very depressed when I tried to take less than 50mg Iodoral. Gracia katylee53 wrote: > > Hello, I am new to this group and learning lots about this subject. Guest guest
Hi Katy,I have adrenal and thyroid issues too, and I am taking natural adrenal and thyroid hormones (Brand is Nutri-meds.) I order it online. I take the adrenal cortex from them, but I am not sure what your particular adrenal situation is, so don't know if you would need the cortex or the whole adrenal. Anyway, I chose to stay away from Cortef. Last year I got bouts of crashing physical depression and the feeling like I was going psychotic and I couldn't concentrate or think straight, almost like my mind was caving in. My nutritionist had me take a few tablets of Standard Process Trace Minerals and in 20 minutes I was better. She put me on a general nutritional protocol and it included 3-4 tablets of the trace minerals a day and then whenever I would feel the crashing coming on, I took another tablet, and it totally handled it. I don't know if it is your issue, but I seem to have a great need for minerals in general. I had to take a lot of copper for a few months, too. I am now down to 1-2 tabs of trace minerals and in addition I take a lot of calcium, which helps with my adrenals. The iodine helps too.
