Guest guest
I had thyroid problems first and a few years later I got RA. Both are autoimmune diseases and if one part of the immune system is not working properly there is a good chance that some other part of the immune system is also not working properly so we get multiple autoimmune diseases. At least the thyroid problem is just one pill a day and there doesn’t need to be a trial and error process to find a treatment. At least that was true for me. God bless. However, recently, I have been feeling very tired (exhausted even !) I know that this is common with RA and have been putting up with this exhaustion, but just recently I have been suffering from a pounding in my ears and palpitations. I have today seen my General Practitioner (not the Rheumatologist) and he has oredered more blood tests because he feels that I may be suffering from under active thyroid. He tells me that this is quite common with RA patients, because this too is an auto immune problem. My question is - has anyone out there suffered the same, ie - Thryoid problem plus RA. I would be interested to hear from you. Best wishes - Lynda
Guest guest
Dear Harold, Thank you for your info - I am sure this problem will be a lot earier to control than the RA. If all it takes is simple thryroxine to balance the thyroid I can cope with that !! My husband must be thinking what on earth has happened to his wife these days !! I am just a wreck at the moment. best wishes from Lynda Harold Van Tuyl <hvantuyl@...> wrote: I had thyroid problems first and a few years later I got RA.
