Guest guest
Where do they plan on giving you these injections? Steroids...what kind? It doesn't matter since mood swings are a number one side effect. Another risk is if they are injecting into the back, then they might miss...it happens and more then they would have you believe. I opted not to go with steroid injections because of these two factors. That would have only been the hip but I figured it still wasn't worth it. Also anesthesia, do they know about dwarfism and anesthesia. Has the anesthesiologist EVER administered to a short statured person before?? Karin (who chose no steroids but know they work for others). Guest guest
I'm a little behind on reading my personal email, but, I really wanted to respond to the steroid question. A few years back, I had a hip replaced, and during that process I was part of an internet discussion group - the web site www.totallyhip.org - dealing with hip replacment. There were people from all walks of life in this group and it was FRIGHTENING how many young active people had gone through hip and shoulder replacments because of steroids. There are some really scary side effects - one woman had ONE dose of steroids for something like asthma which degenerated her joints enough to require replacment. My hip was replaced because of dwarfism, and so many types of dwarfism have joint problems, it seems risky to use steroids. Again, it has been a few years, but, that web site is still around and I'm sure you could do some research into this possible side effect. - Who is not the kind to scare people or repeat rumors, but, this disturbed me and I hope someone can find out it is not true!! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi - my name is . I've been referred to a pain clinic by my rheumatologist. Does anybody out there have any experience with pain clinics? What do they do there? What kinds of medications do they prescribe, etc? Thanks,
Guest guest
Dear - Pain Clinics teach you to deal with the pain in various ways. Psychological therapy in combination with lifestyle changes and medication modification are essential in dealing with your disease. It will be positive experience for you. You might want to look up naltrexone for RA. It is an alternative to Opiates which can be addicting. Most doctors today have a proffessional pain clinic assess your pain and tailor a pain management regimen for you.
