Guest guest
Hi Holli, So happy to hear you are taking the water class. If you haven't been exercising before this, you may have done too much - even as you were keeping up with the seniors. The water is good for you, muscles, joints, the works, but you may have to slow it down to 1/2 hour 3X a week until your body builds stamina. As for weight loss, I lost 40 lbs from pool exercise 6 days a week for awhile, also changed my diet completely, the addition of brown rice each day has been very benefical. Fruits, green vegetables, etc. ocean fish and chicken. No butter, salt, very little fat. (if it is fat, it is reduced fat peanut butter, for example. I also eat my largest meal earlier in the day - reduced fat cottage cheese, chicken, 2 vegetables, then as the day goes on I eat more often, but like a piece of fruit, a bunch of grapes, etc. Evening I have a salad, either warm or cold, 2 more vegetables, 2 fruits and the brown rice. Instead of salad dressing, I use one of the salad sprays, or salsa. I started to take the time to read labels on foods for content also. And drink only water, no Pepsi, Coke or other soda. As for the Naproxen, no more for me. If I need something for strain, I use a Flexor patch. http://www.flectorpatch.com/ Naprosyn can be a killer on the stomach. Guest guest
Thanks for the responses. , funny you mention numb hands. I went back for another class before picking up that post and had just been thinking, " great, now my right hand is numb! " I think the thing I'm having the most trouble with is the fact that I don't feel bad until much later. I have no idea when I've crossed the line, so it's hard to scale back. I always feel like I'm doing fine when I'm doing it. Donna, I'm not sure on the abbreviation, does EDS=Ehler's Danlos Syndrome? I have never been officially diagnosed but I believe that the loose jointedness prevalent in my mother's family is probably Ehler's Danlos type IV, aka: Benign Hypermobile Joint syndrome. That has combined with the CMT inherited from my father to create a unique group of CMTers with loose joints. (My mother says that her and Dad's genes were calling out to each other across many states.) My sisters and I have 7 children between us that all are loose jointed and have signs of CMT. From a scientific point of view, I am wondering what the mechanism of the bone pain is. Why wouldn't the muscles hurt? I haven't experienced that sore muscle/good workout feeling since I was in my 20s. I'll have to ruminate on it. > > Hi Holli, > > You have EDS too right? > > I have EDS and have noticed amongst the people I've met on Twitter > with EDS that the bone aching feeling post exercise seems common. > > I get it in my left leg mostly I think it is related to my IT band. > Stretching helps.
