How are you? Fine I hope.

I've been on 7.5 MG MTX, 1x a wk and 1OO mg Minocin Mon to Fri for 8

weeks.

I'm aware of the fact that MTX may take 3 to 6 months to really kick

in.

I would say that I am better, The swelling around my left knee has

gone down and the pain there lessened but it still has some way to go

before it looks like the other knee again. I can't run because of

that knee but walking up stairs is much easier!I am confident that

the knee will improve within the next 3 months, God willing! The

other joints have a low key buzzing pain. Overall, I am happy with

the protocol. Minimal side effects have been experienced, a little

tongue swelling.

What is your opinion of cod liver oil for RA?

Take care!

Ken.

Ken,

A swelling in only one knee may indicate a meniscal tear in that

knee, causing a fluid buildup. Get that knee drained. Better yet,

have an MRI taken of your left knee before it is drained. If you have

a meniscal tear, neither the antibiotic protocol nor methotrexate

will help you. However, arthroscopic surgery (through three small

holes in the skin) may fix the problem in half an hour. Been there

and done that (starting with my left knee also). The following four

steps have worked for me and my wife (total of three knees):

1) See an arthroscopic surgeon.

2) Have an X-ray taken of your knee. The X-ray will not show the

tear, but will justify an MRI.

3) Have an MRI taken of your left knee. The MRI will show the tear

and justify arthroscopic surgery.

4) Go through with the arthroscopic surgery and walk away painless.

Sincerely, Harald
