Guest guest
Great news, Liz! Sorry, but I can't tell you how to remain in remission. That's still one of life's mysteries. I wouldn't go off the MTX though. Do tell your physician what happened with the Trilisate. I hope it lasts! [ ] In Remission > Hi all, good news I've been off of my medicine Trilisate for about 2 weeks and I feel GREAT!!! I am only taking the methotrexate once a week. I feel good and happy, Trilisate was giving bad somach problems, so I decided to get off of it on my own with out doctor's consent (he doesn't know, but I will tell him on my next doctor's visit). I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how someone can help STAY in remission : ) I would greatly appreciate it, thanks Liz.
Guest guest
Great to hear you are feeling so much better, that's such good news ! I am 12 weeks into my methotrexate treatment and I am also glad to say I am feeling a little better. My rheumatologist says that when I return to see him in September that I will be bounding through his door !! hope he's Right. I also suffer from osteo arthritis and had 2 small fractures in my spine and of course these will always give me problems, but at the moment my pain levels from RA have dropped by at least a half and that I am so grateful for, and also finding a simply wonderful rheumatologist here in Shropshire, E Best wishes to you and hope you continue to keep well !! Lynda sugarcookie59 <sugarcookie59@...> wrote: Well Im finally there after 3 years of meds ~ My appts with rhumetologist last about 5 minutes now ~ I take 8 tablets of methotrexate a week, azulfasalazine daily, plaquenil daily and I finally stopped taking mobic. I am feeling as good as new with the exception of rainy days ~ they take their tole. I have a hot tub which I try to use every other day ~ sometimes I make it once a week ~ but I am honestly feeling like "ME" once again ~ long hard road but Im back ! Other people I speak with have been told by rhumatologist to stay away from beef products. I dont notice any difference when I eat beef. Due to the methotrexate I have monthly blood tests ~ which I could live without if it were up to me ~ I am back wearing a size 8 1/2 shoe, oooooooo~ I was buying a size 9 due to the inflammation. Boy its been a long tough battle. When I was first diagnosed, I thought I had the flu ~ hurt to walk ~ feet hurt ~ hands hurt ~ I thank god that there is NO destruction to any joints. I dont know what is in the future as far as what will happen if the methotrexate combo dosnt work any more ~ I hope and keep my fingers crossed that I just keep on the path I am on ~ I was having trouble sleeping ~ seems like a vicious circle ~ so I am on a muscle relaxant which helps me nightly to get a good nights sleep ~ It sure has helped ~ I wake up refreshed and feel good ~ not like before ~ I think about you all and hope that you are getting the care that you need ~ if you dont have access to a hot tub ~ find a nearby hotel ~ a place that has one ~ and try it ! One trip should begin to help~ a heated pool ~ get some light swimming in ~ and it will help ~ I wish they would find the cause ~ and a cure ! Guest guest
I'm glad you are feeling better, but sorry it took 3 years. It took about 12 weeks for me to start feeling better including being able to mostly sleep through the night. However, it was about 1 year until I as feeling fairly normal. No, I was never told to stay away from beef. I was told to try and get 3 servings of salmon each week. Guest guest
I've been in remissin for two years now. I take 7 methotrexate tabs a week, and one 220mg Aleve per day. I am flaring right now for the first time in years as a result of an allergic reaction to Levaquin, but hopefully it will go back to normal once I am off the antibiotic.
