Guest guest
I saw my Rheumy yesterday. He said anyone with RA SHOULD NOT take ANY quinolin antibiotics (Levaquin, Cipro, etc). He said ESPECIALLY if they have had any corticosteroids within the last year, or if they are 60 or older. Apparently I was very lucky. It has been over a month since I took Levaquin 750 mg tabs for 3 days and I still have tendonitis in both wrists, both shoulders, and both ankles. But I didn't rupture a tendon. Apparently you can have a tendon rupture with as little as one dose of one of these antibiotics. Most common is the achilles tendon, and it requires major surgery to repair. I had two cortisone shots in my shouder two months before the antibiotic, and I am almost 65 years old. So I qualified on both counts. He said it could take up to 6 months for my tendons to heal.
