Hi ,

I feel the same way...all discussion is beneficial in some way, I was just concerned that with so many of us on here we could easily get off course. You are really working hard and it is wonderful..I know how you feel it is almost crinimal the way our work is being side tracked...it almost makes one feel like we are behind the "iron curtain"...but in masses...I do believe with continued hard work...we will win...thanks for all your work..it is great to have people like you out there..Dr. Debbie Lang

Re: Enforced vaccinations

As the moderator noted, we need to stay on topic w/regard to enforced

vaccinations, although I have benefited from the group's dialogue. Here

in CO, Merck drug reps/lobbyists, funded legislation through 'Women in

Gov't' a shell of an advocacy group formed to grant Merck its goal of

mandating the Gardasil (HPV=help pay for Vioxx) aka the human papilloma

virus vaccine. For a $100 fee, women legislators that were targeted for their

easy stance on vaccine-related bills, were allowed membership in this group.

Appx. $4 million was given to these advocacy groups across the country.

We rallied against this mandate and were up against some formidable opposition

from a packed room of designated doctors, lobbyists, 'health' dept. officials, etc.

The bill was ultimately killed, but not before $1.5 million was taken out of a

successful prevention, screening, and treatment program to be allocated to the

state 'health' dept. to promote the use of Gardasil. Unbelievable transparency,

but it was allowed and the drug lobbyists gloated w/glee. Most of the backroom

negotiations had already taken place, so the hearing was mostly a formality to

give the impression that the constituents' voices really mattered. Although if

enough laypeople had packed the room and voiced their opinions via phone calls,

letters and e-mails, the tide may have turned. I'm a big believer in making your

voice/vote count and to be quoted in the paper has an effect on millions of people

reading it. So for that, I am grateful. Most of the time, though, the news writers

never get the story exactly right or the actual quotes, which they seem to miscon-

strue. Oh well... some press is better than no press.

In the meantime, the drug cos. are working hard at eliminating our philosophical,

medical and religious exemptions. We are fortunate to have all three, but the latter

two are usually the ones most recognized. I have had to educate school nurses

over the years who do the bidding of the state 'health' depts. agenda of innoculating

as many students as possible. They all seem to have their own version of what they

deem necessary. Random phone calls made on behalf of concerned parents show

an unwillingness to disseminate correct info unless pressed. You have to know the

right questions, otherwise, they'll tell you your child has to be vaccinated to enter

school. I always counter w/the state statute on the books since '86 which states

the only 'mandatory requirement' is to fill out the immunization schedule, NOT to

have vaccinations. They usually change course, but probably only for that phone

call. I'm sure it's business as usual after I hang up. Parents need to know their

rights, or they don't have any.
