Guest guest
I skimmed through Deborah’s response and I fully agree with it. There is only one thing I would add and that is to let your doctor know what you are doing with your medications at your next regular visit. If he/she objects, say that your respect the medical opinion but your body has veto power as to what works for you. There are times that your body insists on having the last word. I hope you get things straightened out. God bless. I am on my 20th RD since being prescribed and on MTX off and on since 1995. I split 3 one night and take 3 the next. How you take your pills as long as you take them is your business. You know your body. The doctor doesnt understand what it means to feel your symptoms. Let him take an AM /PM or all at once dose and then let him tell you again. What I am saying is, taking your meds is important surely but so is listening to your body and coexisting with the disease, not getting wiped out with two or three days gone. I have had doctors tell me to take it all at once, take it am/pm, take it at night, or split it up over the next few days. Whatever WORKS for you, is what 90% of Rheumatologists said. If you realize after much deep medical research what MTX is and what it does, you would understand that it is a very very powerful medication that has very debilitating side effects. It is CHEMOTHERAPY after all. It is a fascinating drug. It targets abnormal cells, (RA white blood cells or cancer cells all look the same MTX. I promise you. It stops the bad cells from dividing to slow down their rapid multiplication. This means everywhere in your body. Blood, tissue, bone marrow , brain, organs right up to your hair follicles. MTX leeches the folic acid out of your body so taking it as a supplement works!!! It also dehydrates you because it begins working in the intestine like Remicade does. If you take a shot instead, there may be less side effects. It starts working the minute it hits your stomach thats why you get nausea. I know what you are going through and anything you can do to make it easier on yourself when you take it is so important. Doctors and patients pass MTX off as not a big deal but it is, especially someone who has symptoms. Know your body and treat yourself accordingly. Having it work while I am sleeping is also a good thing because the body heals itself then so the mtx has a chance to work even more effectively when my body is in a state of unconciousness. It doesnt have to chase the RA cells in blood because my blood and pulse are slow while sleeping so the hyperactive RA cells are slower and more easily targeted. Yes, I know I might be crazy, but crazy like a fox.
