Guest guest
I missed this particular show so I'm just playing devil's advocate here. Did Allie NEED the Prozac? Was she diagnosed anything? I'm a huge Allie fan. I'm wondering if next week they will be prescribing Haldol for , the Tourettic character. When I was in college my professors would not even discuss Prozac because they said that there were so many better similar medications coming out. Patti << I would like to know how any of you feel about this.Did any of you watch Ally McBeal last night? It concerned Ally taking Prozac and Betty White was her psychiatrist.I felt like it was in very poor taste and could affect how people perceive taking medications for mental disorders.Betty White was trying to convince Ally that she needed to take Prozac, and then tried to get her to agree to take other medications.Ally made the comment that she was not taking a mind-altering drug, ended up getting the Prozac, flushing it down the toilet, going back to Betty White.Betty White opens her jacket, shows Ally medicine bottles ,tries to get her to take something else. The entire show was along this strain.(I don't have time to go into every detail, because I have to leave in a few minutes for an appointment).Ellen was watching, too, and I thought we might be in trouble over the mind -altering comments, but she didn't say anything. It may come later.Sorry,I have to go. Guest guest
I guess I am at the point where I choose to ignore it. Hopefully the majority of people have the same opinion about TV that I have. What I see on TV I always take with a major grain of salt, especially the TV magazine type shows like 20/20, dateline, etc. My personal attitude about people who buy into what they see on TV is that they are obviously not intelligent enough for me to be bothered by. Why argue about stupidity. The other day we were watching the show, " Making a Millionaire " or something like that. One of the questions was about the movie " As Good As It Gets " with Jack Nicholsen. The mans comment was. " isn't that the movie where Nicholsen was some kind of psychotic? " My initial response was dismay because Nicholsen portrayed a man with OCD. Then I thought about it a moment and realized that what he said just showed his lack of knowledge. And anyone who plugged into showed their lack of knowledge. If someone comments to me about something they saw on TV regards OCD, meds, etc. I look at it as an opportunity to give that person more accurate knowledge. TV will never be accurate. It will always be misinformation and hype. Most people are aware of this. Except for those few who still believe the National Inquirer is accurate reporting. Patti R. Guest guest
When I found this show in the listings, it was actually on TLC and not Discovery. There are a bunch of different Discovery channels, so I thought I'd clear that up if anybody else is trying to set it to record. :-) On 6/22/05, Noreen <noreen62677@...> wrote: > Sorry if anyone already posted about this but I saw on my tv guide that on > June 26 at 10pm the Discovery Channel is airing a show called " Supersize > She " about a woman training and competing for Miss Olympia, anyway, thought > it sounded interesting! Guest guest
I seriously doubt if the mystery person would be on the post-op board. Or at least I hope they are not, as the ones I have read about recently did not feel as though they got a very warm welcome from us. Maybe we are being tested to see how we would deal with those of " celebrity " status. Dr R does give us tests doesn't he? This is why, all need to be treated with respect, whether the name is recognized by many or not at all. Don't we all feel like we are " celebrities " for being chosen for this great opportunity? Guest guest
Sandy, if we had a contest for BEST LETTER of 2007, you just WON it! Holy Moly. That is some wild tale and your telling of it is a CLASSIC. I'm going to enshrine it in the FILES as sort of a " time capsule " of how it really is in 2007. So good on so many levels, so painful, so funny, so well captured in words! TV. What a BLACK HOLE where you throw your brain! And those IDIOT talk show hosts! Clueless. TED BAXTERs, almost all. Har har har. You really should go back, though, take advantage of another free trip to NYC, trot out a bit of info that won't shake 'em up enough to cut you (do say out loud the WAPF website though!) RUN from the studio, and enjoy the heck out of NYC, a GREAT place to eat and have fun! EVERYONE should get to be on a dumbo show like this ONCE in their lifetime! Thank you for a great holiday gift! Guest guest
Sandy, I agree with Will. Figure out a way (ahead of time) to say what you want in a PC way that might not get edited out. And it would be great to mention the Weston A Price Foundation website. Your opportunity to be on TV to tell your story may not be perfect, but you still may reach at least some people. It takes time. That way, even if you only reach 2% of the people, that's better than 0%. Plus, it's all part of the journey. How many of us here went directly to WAPF? Many of us were vegetarians, vegans, etc, first. We had to take other steps first, before we got here. Plus, maybe you can speak with some of the people around you in the TV studio. Maybe you'll plant seeds in some of their minds. Who knows, maybe you will get edited out. But maybe something you said to someone will spark their interest and a totally different show will come out of it. A show where things won't get edited out. Does anyone in this group know anything about WAPF and MS? Are there stories of the WAPF diet or a Traditional diet helping some- one with MS? If yes, maybe that info could be handed to MW or an assistant of his..... Also, if you do go, you could look up WAPF friendly restaurants ahead of time and check them out. I would recommend contacting the Chapter Leaders in NY ahead of time. May the " Fat Faries " sprinkle lots of Golden Butter, White Lard, and non-stinky Cod Liver Oil down on you, Good Luck, Therese Laurdan

And yes, the tv show already has generated a lot of WAPF discussion- not only with the makeup and hair people back stage, flight attendants, etc but also with family, friends, work associates, church associates, etc. who found out we were going on the show. As far as going back- it's also a matter of taking 2 days off of work, leaving the kids (on the Gut And Psychology Syndrome Diet- no easy task for any caretaker!) I will definitely keep you posted- thanks for the great response! -sandy

Guest guest
Keep an eye open for this new television show about vaccines and autism. If it does nothing more, perhaps it will at least broaden the awareness of vaccine danger and injury, and do some good to Help the Cause. This looks to be a TV first, and a brave undertaking. I am surprised something like this is getting on the airwaves. If successful, more shows of this genre may follow. If BigPharma has it's way, I fear it wont last too long. So watch it and tell everyone you can about it. And if BigPharma can sell their disgusting, designer drugs of choice on TV and other media, with all those horrible side effect ads, why cant Anti-Vaccine groups take out Ads too. At least people will know there IS a controversy. An incrediable amount of people have No Idea about vaccine issues. Guest guest
You will be shocked how hard it is to get a news outlet to report on Vaccine issues. I had a life-threatening reaction to the flu vaccine 2 years ago. Every time a newspaper or magazine has an article on vaccines I send a letter. After 2 years not a single letter has been printed. The two times I sent letters on other subjects they were printed. This is not a story traditional medias including Oprah want to cover. I contacted her about what happened to me and so many others I know with flu shot / vaccine damage. No response. I send letters to TV stations, magazines, newspapers. no response. Now I send the letters to the media and copy everyone I know, they are spreading the news for me.
