Darn it I missed it and I had been planning on watching it all last week when they showed it coming! We had huge storms here and power was out. Was it any good? Hey Reni, It was pretty good. I think the best (and worst in a way) part was watching how the girl's family truly didn't understand her chronic pain. The recovery center rep did a decent job of explaining to them how different she was compared to a regular healthy person addicted to pain killers. Did a family member (mother?) say that she tested positive for lyme disease but chose not to take the antibiotics? I watched the show but wasn't quite paying attention.

I went on the intervention web site and read some of the threads, there is one supposedly by her older sister...... as I said I didnt see the show but I read alot on the sites, it seems to me a little harsh to have everyone atleast the other women in your family being so upset with you, on top of being young and having a disease that sets you reeling in pain. I wonder if they would have called the bed police to intervene if she hadnt taken any pain pills and been bed ridden? Seems to me this intervention thing just gave all of us fighting ra signs and symptoms a "black eye". No wonder people have no patience or compassion for us we are just a bunch of whinning drug abusing lushes? Personally I dont think this did us justice. I would want the Interventionists to get the real picture of ra out.citoldusew <citoldusew@...> wrote: Did a family member (mother?) say that she tested positive for lyme disease but chose not to take the antibiotics? IMO There were obviously more issues with that family than the supposed abuse of pain meds. Despite being adults each sister acted very childish when vying for the attention of the parents.

Additionally the woman with RA admitted to going to several places, including a pain management center for her pain meds without notifying each of the other. She was an addict in the sense that she lied to get the drugs and took more than was prescribed. Maybe the meds kept her from being mobile but the excessive amounts that she taking was keeping her emotionally bedridden. There is a fine line there. For each it is different but this story was about one addict who also happened to have RA. During the intervention they did discuss that she needed to be on some meds but not all of what she was taking.

All users of pain meds aren't addicts. Unfortunately it didn't help the stigma that exists already.

I just went to the A & E site and read some of the discussions. I really wish I would have seen this show. It sounds like she is refusing treament for Ra that all she wants is pain pills. I hope she gets the right treatment, it is soooo sad. citoldusew <citoldusew@...> wrote: IMO There were obviously more issues with that family than the supposed abuse of pain meds. I take quiet a lot of pain meds. I can't do without them. They

are the only reason I am able to get up and walk across the floor.

I am not young, but my son 37 has lupus now for about 5 yrs. I know

the torment he goes through even from his father, who thinks since

he does't take pain meds, and I should be able to take the

pain beause he hurts and does not take pain meds. My heart goes out

to this young woman and anyone else going through this.
