I've recently been told that the sauna can be used to detoxify the body. I'm wondering if it could also be used to rid me of some of the extra fluid that I carry around either as inflamation on all my joints are just in genereal from my prednisone ect. I'm not necessarily looking for weightloss as I think that is only a temporary benefit of sauna use. I'm just wondering if it could help keep my extra fluids down to a more normal level.Does anyone use a sauna or know of any benefits for someone with RA?Thanks,

Well I have no idea if it would help or not but I know with me it would probably make me miserable. I cant stand humidity, it makes me feel horrible. It has been a long long time since I've been in a suana but I know I didnt like it at all the few times I was in one. I always felt worse afterwards.

I too hate humidity and my RA is always worse during the summer months, so a sauna would be the biggest turn off for me !!

I find the best thing for me is a dip in the pool. I cannot swim like I used to (sometimes I cannot even manage a few yards) but just to immerse myself in the water up to my neck and move some joints is just bliss for me !!

best wishes - Lynda

A sauna is dry heat and is great for losing water weight. My doctor suggested drinking herbal tea and using a parafin bath (on your hands) to help lose that extra water weight.

I have not posted in a very long time here. I was dx'd with RA almost 2 years ago. So far, I am not on prescriptions. I have had good luck with flaxseed oil and fish oil caps for the swelling. A few months ago, I was into a flare and was so painful. I decided to drink warm water with apple cider vinegar in it and by morning, I had no pain. I have been doing this regularly and it has really helped me.

Now, for two weeks, I have been doing a detox program with H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide..35% food grade) I am not sure if I notice changes with the RA, but I am noticing other body changes for the good..such as my digestive tract and my energy level is up.

Hope this helps some of you.
