If so, what >% is used in the alcohol/fragrance ratio? Polysorbate 20 is used to emulsify the eo/fo and the water. You use equal parts 1:1 polysorbate and eo/fo, mix them together then add your water. I wouldn't use alcohol with this unless you want some in there to preserve, but I don't know what the results would be. Usually the polysorbate/eo/fo and water spritz/splash is an alternative to an alcohol based one. I've been making several of these polysorbate spritzers lately, and I by far prefer them to ones I've tried with alcohol. Warmly, Sherri Oshun Spirit Arts Ltd. Guest guest
Am very interested in this thread as I have just been asked to make body sprays. I have made room sprays with the everclear alcohol and love those but am unsure as to how to adjust it for a body spray - more alcohol? Less alcohol? I do have some of the emulsifyer from a known soap supplier but have not (even with the written instructions) found how to use it correctly - never seems to come out. I'm going to try the 1:1 you mentioned below and see what turns out. If anyone has other suggestions to try I would appreciate it! BTW, I haven't posted since I changed my email addy - I used to post (on occasion) under sudsymom@.... Guest guest
Hullo Monika, The polysorbates are emulsifers to help mix water with oils. As mentioned, they are in so many things and products, including food. Polysorbate 20 being the least toxic, to the most carconogenic, Polysorbate 85, *80* being the one which are in many vaccines. p-20 http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/906301/toxic_chemicals_in_vaccines_polysorbate.html?cat=71 p-80 http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/907819/polysorbate_80_in_vaccines_a_potentially.html?cat=70 http://www.cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredient_more_details.php?ingredient_id=454 Informed choice, vaccine cocktails http://www.informedchoice.info/cocktail.html It is just about too scary to put anything on yer skin but soap and water, but even soap and water holds dangers these days. Consider making your own household and personal soaps and shampoos. shampoo bars and conditioners etc. Many recipies out there. Guest guest
Yeah I don't use commercial anything. Our shampoo and conditioner is the only thing that is packaged/made by someone else and they contain nothing but some plant and vegetable ingredients. I didn't read anything polysorbate in either of them. For everything else I use soapnuts and made my own liquid soap out of them. They are GREAT and I recommend them to anyone. They make GREAT baby/children's shampoo. I use it on my son instead of the vegetable derived stuff just because I know exactly what goes in it... and it's just soap nuts and water lol.
