I have had several, and usually they will give you a small amount and wait to see if you react. I am positive it's the meds we are on that causes this new problem. Remember to take a good book to read. I haven't had any reaction to them.

Hi everyone -Just an update. My rheumy sent me to a hematologist last week due to my low blood test results (specifically iron). The hematologist has diagnosed me with iron deficiency anemia and I will have my first iv iron infusion two weeks from now. It will be four hours long and hopefully I willl only need one infusion.I wanted to know from all here if they have had an iron infusion and what side effects I should expect. Thanks,Kathy

My doc is

treating me with 3 folic acid tablets a day for anemia and to offset some of

the MTX effects. Might want to ask about folic acid, just in case the iron

drip is tough to tolerate. Think fiber.

I am also taking folic acid, because of the MTX, plus 5 mg prednisone every day.

some days are not so bad, and others are lousy,miserable.....

I am also being treated for low iron and for about a month have

been taking 3 iron tablets daily, 50 mg each. My blood work has improved

substantially in that short time. It still has a way to go so I’m still on

iron and having no problem with it. They do recommend a stool softener and all

I do is eat a few extra prunes when needed as a natural laxative. I find this

easier than an infusion but all cases are different so I don’t know what would

work best for you. I hope your treatment is successful. God bless.
