Canker Sores/Tramadol

Canker sores - my doctor told me to take 1mg of folic acid every day to prevent the sores.  They seem to be a side effect of many of the medications.  I didn't take it for a few weeks (I was traveling a lot - my mom was very ill and passed away a few weeks ago) and only took my prescriptions and not all the other stuff) and I got a horrible sore on my tongue.  So I won't make that mistake again.

I think I've mentioned this before but I went to a Pain Management doctor after darvocet was taken off the market.  We tried a variety of things and have settled on taking 2 tramadol at night and percoset every 6 hours.  I don't think the tramadol is strong enough to really help by itself but it's good to have it as a blanket - especially at night when I'm still asleep when my night time percoset wears off.

I've also been having edema in my feet and ankles - especially with all the plane travel (trips to NJ for my mom and then to Miami for work).  I try to wear compression stockings as well though find the part towards my toes rolls back and it's hard to put socks on top of it.  I may need a new set of stockings.  I'm going to my rheumy next week and it may be time for a diuretic as it's not really going away a week after my last plane trip.

Vitamin D - mine is also low.  Besides not going out in the sun much I'm allergic to dairy so don't get any through milk & cheese.  I take 2000+ every day and occasionally when it's very low my doctor prescribes a few weeks of mega doses (prescription).

Happy Friday everyone!susan in alameda (CA)
