I wrote you a message regarding . I was sharing with you about my

child's terrible gastro problems and what helped him get better. All of a

sudden -- computer pro that I am, the message was just gone, to you assume,

with no spell check or proofing. How embarrassing!

I you did not hear from Patsy, please write to me and let me know.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Hello everyone,

sorry i haven't been posting much lately but i have tried to read whats

going

on with everyone and i think of you all often.

has had a really bad couple of weeks. He went into a flare about 2

weeks ago and then came out of it to go into a problem with his poor little

tummy. Today his peds dr put him on Prilosec 20mgs once a day and Sucralfate

1gm 4 times a day but i can't give this one when he takes his others meds

cause it will cause his meds not to be absorbed into the body. Poor little

guy just can't get a break. next month when he goes back to the peds dr we

will decide if he needs to go to the GI dr and if we do it will take 2

months

to get an appointment.

test came back neg. so thats good news but he his having a hard time

with his sinus allergies and a cold causing infection in his sinus.

the other kids are doing well and iam doing ok as well, just emotionally

drained cause i can't make it easier for jess. good news though he is up to

63 pounds, hopefully we can keep the weight on him even with the gi trouble.

sure hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving.

lots of love to you all,

shelly and jesse

Hi ,

I read about 's stomach problems and thought I would toss some info

your way just in case there is the slightest chance it might help.

When my little boy was just turning six he went into a diabetic coma. After

several weeks in Childrens' Hospital in Los Angeles, he came home giving

himself shots and getting on with his life. Well, after awhile he would

just double up with pain in his stomach. His pediatrician, who was highly

specialized in the treatment of diabetic children, just did not have a clue

what was wrong. In desperation I took him to our family general

practitioner. He looked Jon over, noted the sounds in his stomach then

ordered me to stop any caffine, (sometimes he had diet drinks since he could

not have sugar), no orange or grapefruit juice, and to make sure all fruit

and vegetables were cooked (no green vegetables at all). For special

treats, I would bake large, red apples and sprinkle them with cinnamon. He

improved rapidly. Today he is a new doctor who still has a sensitive

stomach and reverts to this plan when his stomach acts up. Even though he

did not learn much more about nutrition in medical school than the old

doctors did, he also quit eating dairy and got rid of his sinus problems.

Good luck to you with . I assume he has Juvinile RA even though you

did not say in the post I read. I hope can at least enjoy some mashed

potatos, turkey and gravy for Thanksgiving.

I don't know if a child can take Lansoprazole or a similar medication or

not, but before I went on Enbrel for RA I took it every day with the various

RA medications. I still take Lansoprazole when my stomach acts up or if I

am on antibiotics.

I have had so much trouble trying to get this message to you, that I just

pray you have not received it several times.

I so feel for you since I have been there with a sick little kid.

Sincerely,

Patsy

I hope your boys start to feel better soon. I can't imaging taking care of

3 sick boys at one time. You must be exhausted. We will miss you too, but

understand why you don't have time to chat with us. I hope everyone gets

well soon, and you don't come down with it too.

This is a good website that explains the different meds for FM.

http://www.coloradohealthnet.org/fibro/fibro_meds.html

I don't get that kind of debilitating pain from FM. I take trazadone to

help me sleep and it also reduces muscular pain. I hope she feels better

soon.

Shirley,

I hope you recover soon. I will make sure I remember you tomorrow on our

candle day. We have it ever so often and those who believe in prayer, say

prayers for those who need it, or if you want to pray you can just send good

thoughts or vibes (what ever you believe in) to those who need it.

I don't remember you saying you were having surgery was this something

planned, or something I just forgot? Keep warm. Tery - FL

Shirley, glad you are home from your surgeries. Not fun during the holidays

(or any other time for that matter). Rest and recover in comfort. Take it

easy girl. Keep us posted.

Shirley,

You had a very painful surgery. I'm sorry your nerve block didn't work.

For now you have to be content to read more than write. When you feel

better you can make up for your silence. It's so slow typing one handed. I

hope you feel better soon.

Hope that you are feeling a little better. That is very painful surgery.

I also had a nerve block for my last tkr with no results. So I understand a

little of what you went thru.

Hope 2001 brings better health for all.

Did I tell all of you all that when I was on the EFFEXOR that I did gain

a little weight.

Well, I would swear it was all in my BREASTS. No lie. I had to go buy

the next size bra.

I too, have always weighed around 100 pounds. I hardly ever fluctuate at

all. Buying clothes is DEPRESSING! Everything looks so childish when

you have to go to the Children's Dept. or the Juniors!

But listen ya'll... really. If the doctor offers any of you the

EFFEXOR... humm... remember, Summer is just around the corner!

Oh... the other side effect of the EFFEXOR was, NO sex drive what so

ever... no way, no how, no NO.

So, you get your bod looking good, you feel a little better, hubby says

" ooo-la-la! " and gets a twinkle in his eyes... and he hears NO!

OUR POOR MATES! They go through so much with us!

I better shut up before I get the list going again! We don't need

another Thong party just right now~!

June,

Sorry if I can't feel your pain about being too thin. I'd like to try it

sometime. I love to eat and thus am fat so even though I feel so good on

prednisone, I will not take it for vanity reasons. And after all I've read

here guess I made the right decision! Do you just not like food? Can't

imagine!

I have only a few words for you, you need to get and use pillows. Prop up

those parts that are hurting so bad. it may not reduce all of the pain but

it will help with how you are able to deal with it.

Hi June,

Thanks for the welcome back! I hope I am back to stay too. I didn't get your

email over Christmas - that was just about the time my other ISP got sold to

Earthlink and started to give me a hard time. :(

Sorry you are in a flare. What a bummer. Hugs to you,

Boy does that sound familiar ....I tend to keep to myself anymore ..even my

kids get tired of Mom being tired or complaining anymore...I live in an apt

and tend to keep to myself. Through the yrs I have friends still but most are

working, some have OA and take over counter drugs for it..they cant

understand why I cant just get through the pain and get on with life...I

actually have heard from many people how lucky I am bcs I stay home all the

time and get 1100. a month in SS.....wow, noworking.(what do they think I did

for 25 yrs in order to get it? )I have learned not to listen to strangers

anymore...since coming into this group I don't feel so alone. We all know the

pain is real, and that we wouldnt be treating ourselves with all these meds

unless we had to...God , what is it with people? My favorites are the ones

who say , did you ever try vitamins? maybe if you just tried to exercise and

eat right? Sometimes it is so frustrating...Judy in AZ

Kathy,

I just spoke to my sister in Chicago today & not only does she say quite

often that I don't look sick, but today, she told that I didn't sound too

sick. So now it is not only outward but now even our voice has to be on the

defense. That made me LIVID. I was telling her how much pain I am in from

the new tkr that apparently is working correctly & I went to stores at the

mall & now my hips were in terrible pain, probably from walking incorrectly.

I came home & cried because I was in so much pain. I had emailed my ortho on

Thursday, my husband called him on Friday & now it is Sunday night & no word

from him. I was trying to get a new script for the percocet which only takes

the edge off the pain & there is no mail delivery tomorrow. So I have no

pain medication & tomorrow I am to try to go back to work again. I only

worked 3 1/2 hours last week due to the severe knee pain & stomach pains

w/nausea. It will be a very long day tomorrow. I am sorry, didn't mean to

get off on a personal line here. Still just a little p****d off with my

sister for her remark.

Thanks for lending your cyber-ear,

Gentle, angel hugs,

Hi Judy,

I have heard this as well. But not so much now because my RA is so

noticeable. But I had a friend at one time call me a druggy bcs I need

narcotics for the pain. And that same person sent me an anonymous letter in

the mail telling me I was using my arthritis as an excuse to not work!

Needless to say, this person hasn't been in my life since 1993. (I knew her,

for what, 17 years) And I had known her since I was 6 years old. (I'm 32

now) She is one of the people I wrote a really nasty letter to that I never

sent. =) I still get upset when I think about it. She is legally blind and I

was trying to help her get SS and SSI. She is eligible for it. Then she

turned around and sent me that nasty letter.

But I've had people come up to me in the store and said to try this vitamin

or that. I just smile, nod, and move on.

i usually keep to myself too. but my one friend had a fire and i went to ask

for her advice since she had just had one. even my family it took a long

time. my dad always used to make comments, little digs. i kept thinking i

have already had 3 surgeries on my hands, how many more do i need?? but as

soon as i got up to leave because i was tired. it was 9:30 at night, not

morning!!!

trust me i know how you feel. my dad used to make comments too. but i guess

he was apologizing when he bought me some foot soak for sore achy feet. he

has now experienced some of the pain unfortunatly with his left hip out last

month and his 17 visits to the chiropractor. i think i finally made him look

at the fact that it was most likely the pain that drove his dad to drink. his

whole back fused. he needed a crutch to walk, but remember he was a drunk and

was in a fire oh yeah and he got crippled from riding the rails like a hobo.
