The most important allie that you have in this procedure is your dr. who has to say that you are totally disabled and cannot work. After you are out of work for 6 months you can apply for SSDI and your payments will be retroactive from the 6 month date. If you have a private disablity insurance policy, you need to check with the carrier and get the paperwork from them. Again, your dr. needs to be your best friend in this process. Email me privately if you want more info. I am an atty who has had some personal and professional experience w/ disability law. Guest guest
Faith, Have you already seen a doctor who will state that you are disabled from illnesses? What have you been diagnosed with? You won't get SSI for toxic mold exposure per se. Just the diabling effects it has caused. SSI does not care what caused it, only you were diagnosed with disabling affects. KC > Can anyone tell me if social security disability can be received for > toxic mold exposure? Guest guest
Yanni, Is that what it was listed as? Or just the disabling affects? Guest guest
KC, It is listed under an Immune System Disorder- HIV- as a Bacterial Infection from Stachybotrys or Aspergillos. In my case, my claim was based on Damage to the Brain per the MRI and Social Security Ordered Psychological Testing. Guest guest
Hi, I have been on social security disability since shortly after my diagnosis in 2000. Then, I was on interferon. I remained on it on 400 mg Gleevec and continue to be on it while taking 800mg Gleevec. They do review my case every three years or so. At one point I needed to go to a hearing because they said that since I was in remission I could secure gainful employment. As much as I would like to, I cannot work fulltime or even enough hours to support my kids. After the hearing they did find in my favor and my status hasn't been questioned since. They do however review my situation periodically. > > > > hello this question is for everyone! i have cml and on a spycel.. and > > im wondering im on a disabilty since march 2007 until now.how long > > does my disabilty last for those who has cml and taking sprycel? > > thanks! > > >
Guest guest
My age is 46 and have hadRA for nearly 5 yrs. now. I have been to a Rheumatologist on a regular basis for 3-4 yrs now and been treated with methotrexate, plaquenil, cymbalta for depression and recently using Enbril.I am now losing my job because of the plant closing, but am losing my insurance.I can not perform as I used to because of my pain in my wrists, limited time on my feet, and some fingers.I will be paid by the company I worked for until the end of the year even though they are letting me go this week. When can I file for disability? I am very sure I will have a tough time finding a suitable job and sure it won't pay near enough to meet my expenses.Help!I just don't think I can handle any more. Guest guest
Lottie I am sure I could apply for disability but I'm not sure what that means for insurance etc. I spoke with my boss today and he suggested that I make a formal request for " accomodation. " This would make it more difficult for them to lay me off he thinks because I would fall under ADA. I'm more worried about my staff at this point. I know things will work out but it is very stressful. My eye has been twitching for a week. Perhaps I should attend an ASH conference see if I can hook a single hem/onc who likes mature women-lol. > From: Lottie Duthu <lotajam@...> > Subject: [ ] Disability > " CML " < > > Date: Saturday, December 6, 2008, 1:41 AM > Dear China, > If you should be laid off, why couldn't you apply > for disability?
