Guest guest
I sent this on Saturday and its just being posted today...Hmmmm...Anyway this might be outdated since the Povich subject has cooled off a bit. Sorry for the delay, but I can't explain why I took this long. > > > Can we move on and stop complaining about Maury Povich?! Guest guest
All the time I see posts about “so and so” who died and about he or she really touched my life in “this way or that” and I could really care less because I am ignorant of them and remain ignorant of what they’ve really accomplished. Before Barty died I heard he drank too much and that he was an embarrassment to LPA and I assumed, because of what I had heard, that he was a burn out and nothing more. But when he died I learned more. After he died I heard about how he would seek out young little people and go to their schools to make sure they were looked after well and about how he really cared about young little people individually. I heard people talk about how he came to them and how he was their friend. After hearing these stories I weep at his loss. I think that these people, who have died, like Harry Mc of whom I am completely ignorant, must have similar stories that beg to be told and I would love to hear them. I suggest getting a real writer (Dan Kennedy leaps to mind), kidnap him, chain him to a word processor and have him write these stories down for a permanent record. While he’s doing that it would be good to have him write about the people still with us who commit these same wonderful acts of kindness so we can appreciate them while their still with us. This is half tongue-in-cheek but Dan, what do you think? Follow up to what you’re writing now? Marty

But seriously, my book will intersect *slightly* with what Marty is suggesting, but it will most definitely *not* accomplish what she's looking for. She has a good idea, but not for me. Guest guest
‘K Dan. Seems you’ve got enough irons in the fire. Just one thing tiny thing though, well, er, not tiny, that’s probably a poor choice of words..uh, bigger than that really….sizable?.. no…uh, large..? Well, let’s say massive. Yeah that’s a good word, Masive. By God! I like the sound of that. Massive. I’m thinking lee would be upset to find her HUSBAND had the standard equipment altered while she was out touring the uncharted wilderness of the Vegas Strip. Guest guest
Is it a new biologic that you self inject? I heard something about it and how it is supposed to work for a longer period of time. My rheumy said that she had heard about it but figured it would take a while to get into the system. According to her you start off like with any other and that it is supposed to store up in your body and then time release when needed. I am somewhat satisfied with my meds at the moment so I doubt I will change to anything else at this time. > > I think it is now time to move on, we are all here for support, not stress. We get enough of that with the changes and struggles we go through. We all will go through the ups and downs and ins and outs of this condition, medications, etc. This is here for the postitives so lets get to it. > > This group is for info, support, stories, suggestions and friendships through RA, think its time to get back to that and release the negativity. > > So, I have been hearing about a new medicine coming out, anybody know how that is going and what it is going to be grouped with? > > Thanks, > >

Guest guest
Yes, and I just want to say, as a nurse, that I have never had issue with Harold or his advice, and if I did I would be the first to say so. Harold is a treasure to this list. There is Actemra coming out, hopefully later this year, it is an IL6 trap and works differently than the TNF antagonists (Enbrel, Humira and the like) and the biologicals like Orencia and Rituxan. I'll try to post some articles soon...there are many out there... ----- Original Message -----From: reneehearttoheart <reneehearttoheart@...>Date: Monday, June 8, 2009 14:34Subject: Time to move onRheumatoid Arthritis > I think it is now time to move on, we are all here for support, > not stress. Guest guest
I think you are talking about Cimzia...it is self-injected and is similar to the TNF-agonists Enbrel, Humira, Kineret, Remicade... ----- Original Message -----From: <haveyarn2crochet@...>Date: Monday, June 8, 2009 15:17Subject: Re: Time to move onRheumatoid Arthritis > Is it a new biologic that you self inject? Guest guest
Speaking of what the medications work on, there is also an older biologic Kineret that works on IL-1. I think it is the first of the biologics and on average is less effective than the other biologics but for some people it is the only one that works. I regard RA as a syndrome (collection of symptoms) rather than a specific disease and as such it is not surprising that some medications help some people while other medications help other people. Just my opinion. God bless.
