Guest guest
Hi I have just been looking at Dr Mercola's website under Arthritis and the article and the comments are very interesting. You will als see comments regarding thyroid and it is important that this is tested. This is just one of the comments. I am really surprised that Celiac Disease and the benefits of a gluten/dairy free diet are not mentioned in this article! Gluten is a toxin to Celiac patients. Destroying the villi and therefore making the body unable to absorb nutrition from even the best of foods and supplements. The protein in dairy has a similar structure as the protein in gluten and therefore must be avoided by Celiacs as well. The absence of vital nutrients (or the inability to absorb them) is the basis for ALL autoimmune diseases. My mother suffered from Rhumetoid Arthritis for 30 years. It destroyed her body without mercy. The pain was unbearable. Three years before her death, my daughter (her granddaughter)was diagnosed with Celiac. After being told it was genetically passed through the generations, my mother went gluten/dairy free. What a miraculous effect it had on her! She was pain free with just two Tylenol in the morning. Her body was gnarled and twisted, she was completely bedridden, her xrays showed bones that literally looked like Swiss cheese...but the gluten/dairy free diet made her last days more comfortable. I was diagnosed with Celiac shortly after my daughter and have been gluten free for 6 years. My recent bone scans show a significant increase in bone mass and I no longer have Hashimoto thyroiditis. Chronically low levels of Vitamin D and cholesterol are now in the normal range. Best of all, the high risk of debilitating autoimmune diseases are greatly minimized for my gluten free children and generations to come!
