Guest guest
I also get extremely tired, but the effects are weakening each week... I take my shots 6pm on Tuesday nights...that way dinner is already made and I don't have any obligations to uphold on these evenings... Basically I give myself my shot and lay down the rest of the evening. I was also getting very irritated in the injection site... very swollen and itchy... My Doctor recommended that I take Benedryl a half hour before my shots and now you can barely see where the injection was... Hope you feel better soon Bonnie R. > > i just started enbrel last monday, it made so tired i could hardly stay > awake at work, I was wondering if i could change the day i take it and take it > today or would that be too soon so maybe i won't be as tired tomorrow at work? > Thanks O > > > > **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? Guest guest
Occasionally I get an injection site reaction, not a rash, but the place where I injected turns red and itchy. It's no worse than a mosquito bite. Usually after I inject, I rub some Sarna anti-itch lotion on the site, and that helps. I make sure that I let the solution get to room temperature before I inject it. I also find that I'm more likely to get a reaction if I inject to a shallow depth, so I usually try to just go in vertically and not at a slant. Guest guest
I use to get the same reaction. My doctor advised me to take a benedryl a 1/2 hour prior to giving myself the shot... It has completely worked! No redness and its no longer itchy... Talk to your Doc and see if he/she would recommend it as well... Guest guest
How long does it stay like that? Do you let the mixture get to room temperature? Try rubbing some kind of anti-itch cream on the site as soon as you inject, and see if that helps. Guest guest
You can also take a Tagamet during the day and the benedryl at night. That's what I did and the hive cleared right up. Guest guest
Hi, I have dry eyes which is a problem people with RA have according to what I've read on-line. My eye doctor said to use eye drops to prevent the dryness that can cause sudden blindness. Other than that, I haven't had any other problems with my eyes since I've started Enbrel. ez
Guest guest
Clora, where in the world did you read that? Please give the URL. I've never read anything like that about Enbrel, and it's the oldest of the biologic drugs, so the side effects are pretty well known. I've been on it for over five years, and yes, I've had cancer, breast cancer, but I had it before I ever started on Enbrel. Now I've heard it can cause issues with lymphnoma other than that never heard it caused cancer. Jenn Re: [ ] Enbrel Clora, where in the world did you read that? Please give the URL. Guest guest
I am going to start Enbrel as soon as my TB test is read, and my rheumy told me that it can induce Lupus and MS, and that there has been cases of lymphoma (a type of cancer). Guest guest
I thought the jury was out as to whether antiTNFs increased the risk of lymphoma, or whether RA disease increased the risk. Either way, personally, I'm willing to risk it in exchange for health and mobility. Enbrel gave me my life back, and I'd rather have a few good years, than many in pain and exhausted. As for the lupuslike and MSlike syndromes, I just try not to think about the scary side effects [ ] Re: Enbrel I am going to start Enbrel as soon as my TB test is read, and my rheumy told me that it can induce Lupus and MS, and that there has been cases of lymphoma (a type of cancer). Guest guest
Hi All, I have been on Enbrel since February. My RD discussed the side affects with me. He said that they have to state that so many people came down with MS or Lymphoma. These people may have already going to come down with these deseases anyway. If you read the insert that comes with the Enbrel. It give all that info in the leaflet. Sorry for butting into your conversation. Thought I might help. My RD has about 400 patients and no one has come down with MS or lymphoma. or any other horrible thing. guzzie53 [ ] Re: Enbrel I am going to start Enbrel as soon as my TB test is read, and my rheumy told me that it can induce Lupus and MS, and that there has been cases of lymphoma (a type of cancer). Guest guest
I'm the same way. I tell my rheum that it's my crack cocaine. When I saw the VA doc, he didn't like me being on Enbrel while pregnant, and at first I didn't think he was going to give me a referral to rheumatology (where they actually didn't care that I was pg, just told me to do what my OB said). I had tears in my eyes and I nearly panicked thinking I might have to go without it. It's a wonder drug. I just wish everyone got the same great results that some of us have had .... and that everyone had equal access to antiTNFs. Re: [ ] Re: Enbrel Sue Haaaaaaaaaaa. Guest guest
, I have been on Enbrel for 4 months and it has changed my life completely. Before Enbrel I was unable to walk and even feed myself. I have had NO side effects at all and along with my methotrexate I am almost able to function at 100%. I have gone from not walking at all to walking almost six miles a day. I still need to take my pain medication in order to help me through the day, but other than that I am OK!! I still have days where I am tired and sleep most of the day away, but at least I am able to function and go outside. I know if I were to stop moving and just sit at home all day I would still be in a lot of pain.
