Guest guest
Biologics can cause a host of secondary conditions like Reynauds Syndrome. My fingers and feel are always cold. Anti depressants are a matter of course with any chronic disease. Especially if it causes Pain. Chronic Pain can effect the chemical balance in the brain, that is why beta endorphins seem so promising in products like naltrexone. Yes i use natural products but none r going to cure me! yr promises are bullshit, while natural products can help none in my experience will cure my problem. When i hve a flare nothing stops it, not the doctors meds nor natural products, but they all can help! and hve their place. Fish oil ( codliver), any of the antioxitantes and natural yoghurts wth acidophilus! In my experience the others r a expensive rip off other than replacing a healthy diet if u don't hve one. Just wondering their are a few of u who take methotrexate r you all taking anti depressants, found just like the Rituximab treatment my blood ran cold as i experienced with methotrexate? Guest guest
When you have Chronic Pain, it causes a chemical imbalance in many people. I know it did in me and many people. Most newly diagnosed who deal with sleeplessness and the chemical imbalance of the disease itself is based on the individual and some people need a happy pill. I need my happy pill!!!!! I think everyone should realize that chronic pain and reduction in quality of life can have deep impact emotionally for many people. I am glad you do not need anything. I wish I could say that but I cant. Let me state that I do NOT drink alcohol nor smoke cigarettes. I hate losing control. I have been on meds like Zoloft and Effexor and paxil which made me drool and feel like a zombie. I wouldnt take them. I hate not being in control of myself. I only take my happy pill at night before bed and sleep it off. I was once on such a cocktail of medications (guinea pig here) that it caused a severe chemical imbalance. I was manic with mild psychosis and severely depressed bordering on suicidal. I had no control of this. I spiraled deeper and deeper until I became a danger to myself. After a week in the lock down ward, I was in with really really crazy people........Eeeek. My meds were changed and modified and I was sent home after a week. I wasnt crazy. Over emotional YES. Depressed Yes. Sleepless Yes. Psychological Trauma and my then med regimin had me off the ropes. I saw a therapist then and it really helped. My change in meds helped. Trazadone changed everything. I was not on ativan at that time. I was a combative patient when it came to prescriptions for anything. I had to know why, how, when where about anything I swallowed. I have been on trazadone since 1997 and Ativan added later. It helps me sleep and I consider it part of my therapy. Its not for everyone. Just those who need help with the emotional and mental effects of physical disability. yours, Deborah On Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 3:59 AM, <BeingIrish@...> wrote: In a message dated 4/25/09 8:13:35 PM, dbargad@... writes: Anti depressants are a matter of course with any chronic disease. ______________________________________ I disagree. Guest guest
Deborah, I am sorry that you have had to go through so much emotional and physical pain because of your RA, and I am very happy that antidepressants have helped you. I know they have helped many people, including those who do not have chronic pain. They have given people hope when there was none and desperate people an alternative to suicide. My post was not about bashing antidepressants. My point is that not everyone with a chronic disease needs them, and I don't think they should be prescribed routinely to everyone with a chronic disease. They should be prescribed to people who are depressed. I believe they should not be prescribed to people like me who are not depressed, even though I have a chronic disease. I recently received an email from my doctor that my x-rays showed "severe progressive erosive arthritis in hands and feet." This did not make me happy. However, it also did not trigger a depression, as it might in some people. We are all different. It does not make me a better or worse person because I don't need antidepressants. It does not mean that you are better or worse because you take them. This is not about good/bad or right/wrong. We just process things differently. I sincerely wish you the best.**************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
