In an open letter to the Food and Drug Administration and the

Environmental Protection Agency to be published Friday in the journal

Science, the scientists say the

regulatory agencies need to tap into genetics, developmental biology,

endocrinology and other disciplines when they analyze the safety of

chemicals used in everyday products. ...

" We're talking about picking the best geneticists, endocrinologists,

reproductive biologists to consider new ways of testing these chemicals

for safety, " Hunt said. " The old toxicology paradigm doesn't

work anymore. "
