Khenpo Jigme to Take Emergency Funds Directly to Tibet

Dear friends, family and students of Thrangu Rinpoche,

By now you all have heard that an earthquake has brought death and

destruction in Jyerku, in Tibet (Chinese: Yushu, Sichuan). For us this

particular event has come close to home: Thrangu Tashi Choling,

Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche's seat in Tibet, was located only a few miles

from the 6.9 earthquake epicenter. At this point 20 monks have lost their lives,

and the majority of the monastery buildings were destroyed.

The closest village to the monastery has lost over 80% of its

structures and over 600 human lives. Several of Rinpoche's relatives

lived there and some of the lamas have lost members of their family.

This loss, of lives and a sacred practice environment, is devastating.

In response Thrangu Rinpoche's resident Lamas and Khenpos around the world are

making plans to go to Tibet to support the monastery, the monks, and the

villagers.

The Vajra Vidya Retreat Center in Crestone's own resident lama Khenpo Jigme is

one of the Lamas going to

help. We have set up an account for donations to help restore

the monastery and surrounding villages which is covered under Vajra Vidya's

nonprofit

status

and thus tax-deductible. Every cent raised will go directly to Thrangu

Rinpoche's

monastery

and to the villagers of that area.
