India

The culture of ancient India founded the system of Chakras (energy centers), which helps us to place crystals on the body for healing and meditation. Ayurvedic medicine uses the Marma points in their healing process. Several of the Marma points either end or begin on the face or head.

Tibet, China and Japan

Quartz was traditionally revered in the Far East. The stone most associated with China is jade. It was termed the concentrated essence of

love. In Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan medicines, the power of the Meridians, which run through our bodies, connect the flow of energy and prevent disease, when in balance. Several of the Meridians either end or

begin on the face or head. The Tibetan culture believed turquoise was a

stone that bridged heaven and earth.

Ancient Egypt

Lapis was considered to be a royal stone. It was often pulverized and made into a poultice to be rubbed into the crown of the head. Many other

stones were used for ceremonial, divination and beauty treatments, including amethyst, carnelian, turquoise, tiger's eye and malachite.
