Lauderdale, FL. Monday 24th, Wednesday 26th, & Friday 28th Classes at 8am – Noon and 1pm – 5pm Tuesday 25th & Thursday 27th Classes at 1pm – 5pm and 6pm – 10pm Location: Broward Sheriff's Office Public Safety Complex 2601 W. Broward Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312 Paraprofessionals and Volunteers wishing to help in oil spill response NEED this SPECIFIC 4-hour HAZMAT personal-safety TRAINING, as required by BP OIL. This Module 3 training is for veterinarians, first responders, wildlife paraprofessionals, and volunteers who may come into contact with hazardous materials helping with wildlife and related tasks. The desire by wildlife paraprofessionals and citizen volunteers to help wildlife that may be harmed by the oil spill is clear. Should Florida be impacted, there will be many tasks with which the SPCA Wildlife Care Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and other organizations will need help. It may not be hands-on washing of oiled animals, but will include crucial tasks such as feeding and caring for wildlife once cleaned and recuperating until release; cleaning the beach for eventual animal re-entry; assisting with critical documentation; tracking of donated supplies; overseeing supply inventory; providing public information; and so forth. You will need this course to help. Paraprofessionals, we strongly suggest you: 1. Take this mandatory 4-hour HazMat personal-safety course specific to this incident. 2. Get your pre-exposure rabies vaccine (if not already done) if you plan to actively participate in animal rescue/handling. 3. Complete ICS 100, 200 and 700 (if not already done). They can be done online. ***If you wish to register for this course – you must email horizonresponse@... - space is limited. Be sure to give your name, which training location, which session (AM or PM) you wish to attend, which organization you are associated with and your email address. This training was organized by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and the HSUS local affiliate, the SPCA Wildlife Care Center. Special thanks to Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti for use of the training room at the BSO Public Safety Complex
