Tim: Here's why filing anything less than a multi-million dollar lawsuit against he pharmas is frivolous. At $250.00 per hour, it only takes one lawyer 40 hours to rack up $10,000 in fees. $250.00 an hour is CHEAP for any lawyer worth their salt. I'll bet the guys at Baum, Hedlund bill at a MINIMUM of $400.00 an hour and UP!!! Typically, the big DC firms bill in excess of $500.00 per hour. It would be very very very easy to accumulate over $100,000 in hourly fees BEFORE the lawsuit is even filed. Add in another $30,000 to $70,000 for fees (and that's a very low figure), plus the cost of expert witnesses, which would be a few HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS, and you're already talking close to a million just to get the case off the ground. Now do you see why trying to file a $100,000 lawsuit so the plaintiff gets $10,000 is a dumb idea. It's not economically feasible.
