Guest guest
Hi Teri, Terri back at ya. The only count that has improved on me is my white cell count. Red Cell 2.7.....Hemoglobin 9.6.... I'm wondering the same thing with the doctors....The reason I brought up the blood transfusion is....my girlfriend is a RN, she trying to teach me to read my own reports. She was the one that brought up Blood Transfusion. She said If I keep going thats where I'll be. I'll let ya know. Guest guest
can i just take this opportunity to point out that i think that most bosses / teachers / non-ENT doctors are a little bit ignorant re: c-toma! i think until you have been through it, either yourself or with someone very close it is all too easy to see it as an ear problem. with a picture of " ear problem " in your head, you liken it to an ear ache, or an ear infection or the insertion of grommets/myringotomy. the full extent of what a sufferer goes through just isnt realised, the disability it causes from tinnitus to swimming, hairwashing to pain, dizziness to discharge simply isnt understood. the terrible potential for " trouble " with this disease is unknown, from the facial nerve paralysis to the possiblity of menigitis or brain abcess.... the biggest problem is that it is what i would call an " invisble disabilty " , people think because you look ok, that you are ok. that's why i think that lisa's idea of bringing c-toma into the spotlight is so important. people have very little idea what it's all about...and until they do, i'm afraid that ignorance will prevail and c-toma sufferers will have to battle for time off work, a sympathetic boss/teacher, etc. can i just point out to anyone that lives in the UK....that my daughter gets disability living allowance for c-toma, and i get a small, but damned handy carers allowance. this helps to pay for the visits to the consultant and for aids such as extra loud alarmd clocks from specialist outlets. i also use it for treats such as trampoline club, in place of swimming etc. so...get claiming, you get little else for your trouble! Guest guest
, The point you make is so true!! I had my own personal attack from a loan officer of ours. With him needing time off, it cut into one of our loans and they would have been late. So I called this so-called bank vice president who issued the loan to let her know. To my horror, she laughed at the thought of me having ear surgery!!! She compared me to Spock. I was so dumbfounded that I couldn't do anything. I later wrote her a note to let her know that she let me down, not only as a professional, but also as a woman. I had told her of what I was going through, and what the outcome would have been if I had not had the surgery. And do you know to this day (It was in November when it happened) She has never sent an apology to me, nor was she dealt with by her superiors. I considered suing her over this, but like her no one thinks that this is serious. What can ya do? Beannie

Guest guest
Hi Beannie, Yet another horror story. When my hubby was having his 2nd surgery, it was when rent was due. I called the property manager to work something out and she would have nothing to do with it. We had to move so I had to borrow money from my brother (thank you big brother), deal with the surgery my hubby had to have, then move less than 2 weeks later. We are trying to get the word out and we will succeed. This is a serious disease, and although it isn't cancer, I feel that it is a cancer in its own right. I does eat away at the body. Michele PS. I have other stories like I had to quit my job, my hubby had to cut down to part time at his work just to get assistance to have surgery. I could go on and on and on............ > > , > > The point you make is so true!! I had my own personal attack from a loan officer of ours.
