Guest guest
marie, sounds like you had a rough evening, but thank goodness Bradley did not aspirate any water. Sadly, nothing moves quickly at the ER but it's good they are treating him for infection and hopefully he will be feeling his energetic self again in a couple days. It is difficult sometimes to have a change in meds routine, but hopefully the Humira works well for Bradley's uveitis. I hope your foot heals quickly - I'm sure it is easier caring for two boys without crutches! (, 18, poly) (also in Sunny So Cal) From: marie <kemie@...> Subject: Update on Bradley, sorry it's kind of long Date: Friday, August 8, 2008, 9:55 AM Well, the week has been kind of a rough one here at the Seifert household! It started off with my youngest having to go to the doctor for fevers that he has been having for a week straight! The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with him so if he had continued to have fevers by today, I would have had to take him in to get some blood work done but thank goodness, the fevers have stopped! Wednesday, Bradley went swimming with a girlfriend of mine (I am on crutches due to some pulled tendons in my right foot, but that is another story entirely!) and he went under for about 5 or 6 seconds off the bottom step, she grabbed him and he came up coughing and vomited and decided he had enough and wanted to come home. Well, when he got home, he was disoriented and said he wanted to take a nap! For Bradley, for him to want to lay down is a BIG indicator that something is wrong, he just doesn't like to lay down for the life of him. He slept for about 2 hours, woke up, didn't want to eat at all but wanted to lay down again! He was also running a fever again, he's been running fevers for a week now, not high ones but fevers none the less so his Rheumy gave us a Rx for Zithromax. So anyways, later on that night my hubby came home and noticed that Bradley was really lethargic and warm so he decided that we should go to the ER since he could have aspirated some water. Long story short, they did a chest xray, everything was fine but they did some blood work and showed that his WBC count was really high so obviously he has an infection somewhere. They gave him some Abx in his IV and after that, we were able to go home...6 hours after we checked in!!! It was so ridiculous how long we were there but at least we know that he is ok for the most part, minus the infection. So that was our night/day for wednesday and thursday. We also went to the Rheumy on Tuesday and his joints look good but we will be starting Humira next week to try to help his Uveitis since the drops and MTX alone aren't doing enough. We also have to go back next week to the Rheumy to see an Orthotist to see about getting Bradley some extra support in his shoes. I am nervous about starting the Humira but I know he needs it for his eyes so that right there is enough reason for me. The nurse gave us a program where Humira will actually pay for his Rx for the first 6 months so that is SO nice since our medical bills for him are adding up. Hope you all have a fantastic day and weekend and know that you have lots of prayers coming at you from Sunny Southern California! Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear this is happening to you and your family. We travel 307 miles to Cincinnati Childrens on Monday to take our 12 1/2 yr old off of Enbrel. He has been in a medicated remission for years but this is the real deal. You wonder, can he make it a month,6 months ,a year. Puberty has hit and this is the best time but it is ALL still a guessing game and a cat and mouse chase kind of thing.I will be praying you get the eyes under control ASAP. Becki and 12 sojra aka The Barefoot TN Flash Again our prayers are with you! ________________________________ From: marie <doulakarenmarie@...> Sent: Fri, February 11, 2011 9:34:22 AM Subject: Update on Bradley Hey all, So I know I have not posted on here in a while (more than I care to admit!) but I do read every single post that you write and know that I am praying for each and every one of you and your kids. Bradley had been pulled off his Humira back in September of 2010 and we were SO excited! Some of you may not know but Bradley was diagnosed with Pauci in 2008 and only his left knee was affected. He has had NO problem with his joints but unfortunately his Uveitis has been a bit harder to control. Well, he was doing really well and his eyes had been quiet for a long time so like I said, in September, his Opthomologist (sorry can't ever spell that right! hahah) pulled him off the Humira. Of course we were seeing him every 4 weeks or so but we were doing really well and hoping that this was the start of the beginning of the end for him. Well, we went back to the Optho at the beginning of this month and Bradley is flared really badly in both eyes. So we went back on eye drops every 2 hours and have now gradually gone down to every 4 hours. He was also put back on Mtx and will be going back on Humira as well. It's just such a bummer because he was doing so well and we were just so praying that he was growing out of it, I guess kind of a naive thought. Anyways, just wanted to update you all and ask for your continued prayers right now. We have weekly appointments with the Optho so I'll let you all know what's going on. Thanks everyone for listening, it is so awesome to know that you are here and willing to just lend an ear. Sincerely, Karemarie- Mommy to Bradley, 6 (Pauci and Uveitis)
