Mike asked an independent organization to review the VA's policies after an unsanitary dentist allegedly infected several patients with hepatitis. On Tuesday, gave the new documents to the independent group. There are 19 different documents, consisting of thousands of pages long. When the Dayton VA Center first started testing dental patients in February, there was an immediate outcry for better patient care. " I hope they better their conditions and screen more better to clean their tools, " said. He called on the Greater Dayton Area Health Association to conduct an independent review of the VA's inner workings. " It will give us a great insight into the cultural, management problems and health risk to the veterans, " said. Now, more than four months later, said he has most of the documents needed for a full investigation. " It has taken a great deal of time to get them. I think the VA should be acting much quicker in responding to the community, " said. According to , the VA released partial documents in March, prompting the review board to suggest the possible need to test more dental patients. Dr. Greg Wise said, " We are very hopeful that these additional documents will shed further light on our report, and most importantly, provide further information on if the scope of the testing really needs to be expanded. " Once the independent review is complete, the board will take its recommendations to the VA. " We can approach the VA with real answers, real procedures and policy changes that we think need to be made, " said. The review could take several months.
