Guest guest
Hello everyone, For years before I went on treatment, I got numbness in my hands and fingers, especially at night. I complained to the doctor's but was told nothing was wrong. Then, I went on treatment for my HepC and lo and behold, the numbness went away. Then, I was reading once on this list that other people have had this numbness problem. My numbness has reappeared again. I thought it was gone for good. No matter how gingerly and carefully I sleep, my hands still go numb, the pinky and ring finger are especially effected. I bought myself an ergonomic keyboard for work and it was no help. I keyboard all day long and thought that this was part of the problem. I've also tried motrin and applied Icy Hot, all to no avail. My hands are now starting to ache constantly. Guest guest
I'm so glad I get to suffer in good company <g> It's pretty awful, isn't it? Have you tried one of those neck rings when sleeping? I tried a chiro before I got laid off and she " fixed " it for about a month...when it came back I'd been laid off and couldn't give the chiro another try. My totally uneducated guess is that it's a slipped vertebrae that has damaged the disk causing pressure on a nerve when the head/neck is in a certain position....how else could the chiro have made a difference........ Guest guest
Edie, I too have the numbness...mine is due to the cryo..peripheral neuropathies (ulnar too) For a while I slept with the splints on...seems to help somewhat..now I just wake up and shake my hands til they get the feeling back..I've become accostumed to it. You can by the splints in any pharmacy, ro even grocery store. They run about $15 a piece. It's worth the $$$, cause if they get to the point of aching constantly, the splints are helpful. mzgee

Guest guest
Have yall had your thyroid checked? (this may have already been discussed, sorry if I'm not good at keeping up lately haha I just started that darn IV Interferon ick!) I remember when my TSH went high, my shoulders and wrists hurt like the dickens, and sometimes it can be caused by the thyroid thing. As my thyroid started to go down, the pain went away. Or, maybe that was in my past life alley

Guest guest
I don't know about everyone else who is experiencing this, but my thyroid was blown out with tx and I will be on synthroid for the rest of my life. And since this started years ago, I seriously doubt in my case the thyroid has anything to do with it. Actually, I believe my problem is in my neck and if I ever get a job, I'll get it dealt with. If it weren't my neck, I don't think the chiro I saw could have done one treatment on my neck and it went away for a month+. Too bad I lost my job and can't get back in to see her. But this neck ring pillow has made a world of difference and most nights I don't have any problem at all. wrote: > I remember when my TSH went high, my shoulders and wrists hurt like > the > dickens, and sometimes it can be caused by the thyroid thing. -- If you talk to the animals they will talk with you and you will know each other. Guest guest
I use one of those neck pillows too sometimes. I can't sleep on it much tho, something in the sponge it's made of really irritates my sinuses. I found out on my recent bone scan that I have " degenerate facet disease in L4 & L5 " which I think means arthritis in the lower back. At least I know now why my lower back hurts. I also have bone spurs and a lot of neck and shouder problems which cause a lot of headaches. Once I get off this month of IV interferon I'm gonna see what can be done to help it, masage, chiro whatever, tho I am not really wanting to see an chiro unless absolutely necessary. You know I have one of these long stuffed things, dunno what to call it, that you can put agasint the space under the door to keep warm air in or whatever, not used too much anymore than for looks. But I use it to roll under my back on the floor. This helps me give myself a massage. I had also heard of filling a thick sock full of beans and doing it that way. Not sure if that would help your neck but it's an idea Anyway, just my thoughts on that.

Guest guest
Perhaps you are looking for Raynaud's phenomenon/neuropathy. Raynaud's phenomonon often causes numb hands, tingling and blue fingers.Raynaud's is often associated with neuropathy. Good luck in your research.
