Hello Kathy-- I absolutely loved your post about the chickens-- social creatures

that they are --at the moment I am reading a new book by Brit author Hattie

Ellis-- called Planet Chicken which traces the history of the chicken from what

it once was, a wild tropical jungle bird to the shameful industrialized

protein source for Westernized humans .--

If no-one else has already done, so I'd be happy to write a synopsis when I

have finished --I am off to see SICKO today.

As for the pet food I feed my four dogs Bearded Collies and English Bulldogs

their raw natural traditional diet too-- for almost 10 years --with my

Builldogs I am on second generation rawfed having kept a boy I bred --he's four

now and never eaten processed crap. I grew up in North East Scotland in the

Fifties B.K ( Before Kibble) My Grandfather owned his own butchers shop so not

only did we eat healthy traditional local foods -- so did our dogs,

LOL, is that an understatement!!! I have two hens right now and they seem to

think we are the rest of their flock! They will do anything to get into the

house! Once there they roost on the back of the chairs and poop everywhere! My

poor parrots get really upset and jealous, so there is a lot of ruckus. Not to

mention the ruckus I make in chasing them outside.

I quite trying to get them to stay in the pen (over half ac of nice fenced grass

with mature trees for shade and roosting.) they just keep getting out and

sitting on the steps. They follow me out to keep me company while I hang up the

cloths. I am wondering if I get a few more birds if they will stay put but I

fear I'll just have more coming in the house and following me around.

They are some of the healthiest birds I have ever had too! I only feed them some

non-medicated feed for the first few week and since then they have been on their

own. They just shine with health!

I am wondering cost wise how you all feed raw to your dogs/cats? I have tried to

do it but cost wise I just could not as DH and I need the healthy foods too and

Sorry but I spend on us first. They do get left overs when we have them but I

pretty much just cook enough for us.

I tried one of the buying groups for raw meats and such for pets but it was

complicated and costly. Now mind you, I do not mind spending on the dogs but

money is very tight here (we are victims of the " Sicko " medical racket). So

where can I get raw meats for dogs and still keep the cost down?? I do feed the

cats the same raw diet when I do it as the dogs but supplement with some extra

meats.

Welcome! It¹s nice to have someone else on the list who feeds their dogs

real food. It makes a difference. Will used to have a small animal clinic

and got me into real pet food 20 plus years ago when I brought him a dog

with seizures. Got her off the kibble and no more seizures. I¹m home all

week expecting a litter of naturally reared puppies (my last litter was 10

years ago, I spay/neuter most dogs because of pet overpopulation).
