I was getting these really bad for about a year, then started taking lots

of calcium supplementation. Though I like the idea of fermenting bones

better! Sounds like Celtic sea salt might help too.

This has been associated with not getting adequate calcium.

Dr. Schmidt claims that lots of calcium supplements are poorly absorbed

because of their method of manufacture. He has a supplement " imported from

New Zealand that is derived from free-range cattle raised on land where no

pesticides are used. It is cold processed to preserve the delicate protein

matrix and organic factors. " It comes in a capsule, so isn't subjected to

the processing required to make a tablet.

I kind of like the fermented approach too: stick some whole fish or oysters

in some kimchi! I tried some whole anchovies but those little eyes staring

up at me are hard to get used to.

Dr Ron Schmid, N.D. Check out his website: www.drrons.com

He has a medical practice in Middlebury CT, and not being happy with the

supplements available, also sells his own line of supplements. The calcium

supplement is call 'Cal 1000-Mag 500 Hydroxyapatite Plus.'

  • 8 years later...

elizabeth when i was on gleevec i had the same issue. my was due to low

magnesium level. my doctor gave me a supplement which helped.hope this info

helps.god bless amanda

[ ] Muscle cramping

My husband Nick has experienced strong muscle cramps. He's taken Gleevec since

2003.

The cramps are strong leg cramps which send him out of bed from sound asleep to

wide awake.  Sometimes we put very hot, wet, towels on the cramp site until it

calms down.

Other times Nick puts Ben-Gay on the site and it will soothe away those cramps.

Hardest problem is hand cramps during the day when he's carrying, walking and

holding something, writing, typing, and boom! Strong finger curling hand

cramps.  He's dropped what he's carried because the fingers won't let him hold

the items.

Nick's tongue has cramped!  His throat has cramped.  That's scary when he's

eating or has taken a drink of water, etc!

Do any of you have other ways of easing body cramps?

We appreciate each day though because it's a time to be together and share one

more day.  Yes, we've celebrated 50 years of marriage and each year is

precious.  Hope each of you has a warm home and loving companion to help and

enjoy your days. Stay safe as you
