Guest guest
Hi All, I hope you are all enjoying the holiday weekend. I am trying to figure out how much magnesium I get in my food so it will balance with the amount of vitamin D I get in cod liver oil. Krispin Sullivan said it is mimportant to get enough magnesium when your level of vitamin d is increased. This is a little tricky to calculate. It seems a supplement may be necessary beyond what I get in my diet. Has anyone else figured this out? Any suggestions would be welcome? Thanks, Sheila
Guest guest
Not just magnesium but also calcium and phosphorus, according to Krispin. Guest guest
Hi Roman, Yes I read that too. She does say to take more magnesium, calcium and phosphorus to balance the vitamin D. However I have found if I take 200 mg (two a day) that my heart will race. Apparently the symptoms of too little or too much magnesium are the same. I have stopped taking the magnesium and my heart has stopped racing. The balancing of minerals is tricky to get when taking supplements, but Krispin said it is almost impossible to get enough magnesium in one's diet. Maybe I am accomplishing that difficult feat. It is a puzzle. Maybe I should try some phosphorus along with the magnesium, but find it hard to belive that I don't get enough phosphorus in NT my diet. Thanks for your comment. Guest guest
Maybe you should test your *intracellular* levels of magnesium to find out if you are deficient or not. Guest guest
Hi Roman, I have never heard of a intracellular magnesium test. I definitely want too have this test. How is it done? Can other mineral levels be checked with this test? Thanks for you help, Sheila > > > > > > > Hi All, > > > > > > > > I hope you are all enjoying the holiday weekend. > > > > > > > > I am trying to figure out how much magnesium I get in my food so > > it > > > > will balance with the amount of vitamin D I get in cod liver oil. > > > > Krispin Sullivan said it is mimportant to get enough magnesium > > when > > > > your level of vitamin d is increased. Guest guest
I first learned about that from Krispin. http://www.krispin.com/magnes.html: " Blood tests for magnesium deficiency are irrelevant and unusable. These levels do not reflect total body magnesium (TBM). Magnesium levels of bone and intracellular levels of magnesium are what tell the true status of TBM. " Krispin links to http://www.mgwater.com/ . It contains lots of research material about magnesium. From this site I learned about a company that does such tests -- http://www.exatest.com/ But I don't know if it's still in business as the web site seems old. It seems that not many doctors know that it's the intracellular magnesium level that is important. Dr. Walt Stoll (http://www.askwaltstollmd.com/) has mentioned that a few times. If you learn something interesting about this, please share. Roman h2ocolor1937 wrote: > Hi Roman, > I have never heard of a intracellular magnesium test. I definitely > want too have this test. Guest guest
Hi Roman, Yes the web site for exatest still survives. They certainly look like they are still very much in business. I found their information well organized and interesting. I will be seeing my doctor(alternative MD) next week and will ask him about getting the intracelluar magnesium test. Thank you for the connections to the other information too. Krispin's book should be out this year. It will be fascinating to read, I'm sure.
