Hi all,

just got my first batch of kefir grains (thanks Irene in ME!) and plopped them

into some unhomoginized, pasteurized milk. Well, I got curds and whey after 4

hours. Is this normal? Do you have to stir the kefir every time before you

drink it? Was lumpy, not like thin yogurt at all. Hmmmm....maybe the grains

died in shipping?

Thanks,

That's pretty normal. Mine changed over the weeks. Sometimes it separates,

and you have to stir it. Stirring it during the day will help. Also putting

it in the fridge for a day (when they get hotter they tend to get sourer

for awhile). If it worked in 4 hours it's lively.
